If you’re a homosexual D.C. resident who managed to score a marriage license in Connecticut, Massachusetts, or Iowa (or, soon, Maine, New Hampshire, or Vermont) and now live in D.C., good news: Beginning today, your marriage is valid in the nation’s capital. “Gay couples are entitled to more than 200 legal rights extended to all married couples. The rights include: inheritance, benefits for spouses of employees at private companies and in the District’s government and spousal immunity from testifying against each other.”
Cool. It’s time.
I recently officiated for a young couple from DC who came to CT to wed, along with their families for a long weekend.
Congrats to them and to DC.
