TOMORROW: New Hampshire Could Get Same-Sex Marriage

If all goes accordingly, Gov. John Lynch will have revamped same-sex marriage bills on his desk after legislators update them today to include more explicit language “protecting” religious freedoms. And then he will sign them. And then New Hampshire will become the sixth state where gays are truly equal.

Let’s not get carried away. We won’t be “truly equal” just because we can get married. Some idiot with a gun rack and a brain full of hate will always be spoiling for a fight with us queers. (until, if you ask the media, all of today’s kids are grown up.)

But don’t misunderstand, marriage equality in New Hampshire is a wonderful thing!

How awesome! It’s so uplifting to see actual change, positive change, in our rally for equal rights. It makes me feel good, hopeful. I can only imagine what it must feel like for the actual residents of NH.

Yeah, it’s not exactly true equality when your marriage isn’t recognized by the federal government, is it?

Crossing my fingers, anyway. Good luck New Hampshire.
