Now former British Prime Minister Tony Blair stands alone outside 10 Downing Street. The gay advocate helped turn the gay rights tide in Britain. Now, he may quell hatred somewhere else: the Middle East. The United States, Russia, the European Union and the UN all support Blair as a special envoy to the war-torn region. Speaking to a crowd today, Blair seemed to agree:
Anybody who cares about greater peace and security in the world knows that a lasting and enduring resolution of the Israel-Palestine issue is essential. I will do whatever I can to help such a resolution come about.
