The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide to Capitalism and Socialism With a Key to the Scriptures, described as fed up activist Tony Kushner’s first epic to follow Angels In America, will premier next spring. Michael Greif, of Rent and Next To Normal, will direct. For whatever reason, the theater queens on Broadway World have yet to issue a single reaction.
The Public Theater, where this production is happening, is not on Broadway. It is one of the major off-Broadway, non profit theaters in New York City (and in the US). Sometimes shows produced at the Public do get transferred to Broadway (A Chorus Line, Bring on Da Noise, Take Me Out), but that is not always the case.
The queens on Broadway World tend to be mostly concerned with Musical Theater . . . and usually playing in Broadway houses.

Not that I expect to get anywhere near Broadway (New York’s Broadway, I mean) but I will wait until I read or see this work before I pass judgment.
I look forward to seeing what he does with it. Considering what is going on in our part of the world it seems like excellent material for lighting a fire under peoples’ asses.

The production at the Guthrie was phenomenal. I can’t wait to see it in NYC next year…

I saw this in June 2009 and it was completely worth it. While it was challenging and sometimes pedantic, it was a great story and expanded the types of gay characters I’ve seen portrayed in the arts.

I had the opportunity to see the Play in Minneapolis. I understand it was a work in progress. I only hope he did a lot of work on the piece…it truly needed it.

Isn’t Kushner the Kappa who yelled at gay people for being upset that Obama has thrown us under a bus?

OK – single reaction.
