Tracy Morgan Has Moved On From Stabbing Gay Kids To Mocking Retards And Cripples

Fresh from his GLAAD apology tour Tracy Morgan has begun performing stand-up comedy again. And while his new routine has him joking about his pro-gay cred—”My father was the lead singer in the Village People. I would sing the ‘Y.M.C.A.’ the loudest. I was sitting right there when he wrote the song, my daddy. The Indian was my godfather.”—he also told his latest audience, “Don’t ever mess with women who have retarded kids. Them young retarded males is strong. They’re strong like chimps.”

Then told a bit about dating a teenage “cripple” with a prosthetic arm, a mechanical larynx and a portable dialysis machine. Can we expect the American Association of People with Disabilities and the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities to take Morgan to task next? Apologies are always so much better when they’re drawn out and public, right Anthony Weiner?

      Gay people don’t care. They only care about themselves.

      OMG! Did Tracy Morgan refer to himself as a “chimp? OK, I just can’t go there anymore with this clown. He’s got way to many issues in desperate need of psychiatric attention.

      yourself. Uh huh. What’s your point?

      I used to think Tracy was just dumb, and figured he could say whatever he wanted about gays, and not get called for it, like Eddie Murphy in the early eighties. But now I see the man is just desperate for attention; childish and desperate.

      @bob: You can already see that by the response. The truth is that he said other heinous things in his previous performance. No one cared because it didn’t have much political value to not act hysterical about it. Welcome to America- where the momentary drama is all important over substance.

      If it wasn’t for 30 Rock, Tracy Morgan wouldn’t be able to fill an auditorium for his stand up. He’d be another has-been on the heap of ex-SNLers who were at their funniest when someone else was writing their lines for them.

      He’d be doing voice-overs for movies and not much else. His acting skills seem limited because he’s basically playing a version of himself. He’s no Sidney Poitier!

      The irony behind SNL has always been that they pick people from an improv background and put them on TV with scripts. Sure, they’re good with the timing & the physical aspects of comedy, but those two things alone don’t make someone funny or insightful as a stand up performer.

      @bob: case and point- davy jones is a drama queen. He’s trying stir shit up. That’s what people like more so than the accuracy of your point. This guy is known as a shock comic. But that was all thrown out of the window, and now that he has proven that he’s in fact a shock comic, no one will care unless it can generate drama.

      @Interesting: ‘Case in point’.

      Of course he is a shock comic, and as such he has to be aware of what topics he can get away with mocking and what he can’t. ‘Drama’ is all about people caring; if they care, there will be drama, not vice versa.

      @jeff4justice:

      Exactly. Other comedic things involving the “super strength” of retarded people… how about the ol’ gay staple “Strangers With Candy”? “Clerks II”. It goes on and on.

      Even “Friends” had jokes about dating people with prosthetic legs.

      Someone will always be offended. It wouldn’t be “shock comedy” without the shock.

      It is all about what is politically correct. To say something against the LGBT community is increasingly unpopular. But, you can still mock retarded kids, people of certain religious or political beliefs, etc.

      I waited a few hours to check back. Still not a lot of responses, which illustrates the point I made about Hollywood, the media and the heat generated in the public about “controversies.”

      No one gave a rat’s ass other than the random drama. The “OMG, did you hear!” factor. That’s how people like Mel Gibson or that guy from Two and Half Men got by for years with their shit. They just waited the controversies out until the public moved on.

      Unless it is something truly juicy, and you don’t keep repeating the mistake- the lesson of this country is that if you are willing to wait a few days- people will forget why the fuck they were even mad with you in the first place. The country is nothing but Romans.

      This website certainly illustrated the “sensationalism” factor with the “MOCKING RETARDS!” headline.

      It’s really the same joke from Strangers With Candy, but they did a whole 1/2 hour on it.

      well, this proves that Tracy is an equal opportunist when it comes to saying crap about people. He still shouldn’t have said he wanted to kill his son if he was gay tho. That’s over the line.

      I love these comedians who try to be edgy by making fun of oppressed minorities. “Oh, you made fun of the mentally disabled? You’re so effing clever! Yeah, you and the rest of the world.” I always thought the point of comedy was to knock the mighty down a peg.

      First he picks on LGBT youth who are at suicidal risk – then he picks on retarded people that can’t stand up for themselves?

      Who is next?

      Maybe he’ll start making fun of a grandparent that has cancer or a mom who has lost a young child due to some painful disease.

      We need to outsource this guy’s job.

      @CJ: He was picking on people of color in the same performance that he picked on gays. Before that he picked on women. That’s his act. No one gave a shit until it developed into a political moment. I am not against attacking homophobia in the industry, including his act. But the whole thing was b.s. from the start. No one gives a shit other than the heat of the moment.

      Tracy Morgan is probably ‘retarded’ himself. It’s unbelievable how something so simple as speaking English properly is a challenge for Tracy. Completely ignorant, unfunny, and an attention-grabber. Does he not realize that his anti-disibility, anti-gay rants are inappropriate? He must be touched in the head…

      @jeff4justice: @Allen D.:

      I’m with you guys. Many famous stand-up comedians do jokes of this nature (if not on retarded people, then mocking blacks, whites, Asians, gays, lesbians, whatever). Case in point would be two of my favorite stand-up comics EVER: Chris Rock & Margeret Cho.

      So I don’t really see an issue here. Unless we are going to start protesting many other stand-up comedians working today! I guess there is just heightened scrutiny on Tracy now because his gay jokes went too far (although I confess that I still need to watch the video of that to see what the hubbub was about).

      Tracy Morgan just sucks and no one in the biz can say so because he’s black. Hate to say this but I think it’s the truth. He just isn’t that talented — I don’t know what Lorne Michaels saw in him, really. Hopefully his career will tank. Good riddance to an ignorant not-so-talented homophobe.
