DOUCHE OF THE WEEK

“Traditional Marriage” Advocate Scott DesJarlais Cheated On Wife, Encouraged Abortion

Each week, Queerty picks one blowhard, hypocrite, airhead, sanctimonious prick or other enemy of all that is queer to be the Douche of the Week.

An infamous foe of marriage equality is actually (gasp) an adulterer. And not a it-was-a-onetime-mistake adulterer: Rep. Scott DesJarlais (R-TN), a doctor and vocal proponent of “God-given traditional marriage, has been laid bare as a serial cheater.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports that legal papers from DesJarlis’ 2001 divorce reveal the Tea Party favorite had liaisons with at least two patients, three coworkers and a drug representative.

During one affair with a female patient, DesJarlais prescribed her drugs, gave her an $875 watch and bought her a plane ticket to Las Vegas, records show.

But even though he doesn’t take his marriage vows seriously, DesJarslais is in favor of legislation banning same-sex nuptials.

Not surprisingly, DesJarlais is also a hypocrite when it comes to a woman’s right to choose. He bills himself as an ardent pro-lifer but encouraged his wife to have two abortions and allegedly pressured a mistress to terminate her pregnancy as well. He excused his wife’s first abortion as “therapeutic” because there were “potential risks.” The second one was okay because “things were not going well between us.”

Well, so long as neither were from legitimate rape.

Honestly, what amazes us is that DesJarlais, who looks like Cousin Itt’s ugly brother, got so many women to sleep with him. He must have amazing powers of persuasion because, even after these allegations surfaced, he got the people of Tennessee to reelect him last week.

All together now: What a douche!
