True Life: I’m a Premium Cable Channel

“Showtime is developing a reality series documenting gay people coming out to friends and family. The project is titled “Way Out.” In each episode, a closeted individual reveals their true sexual orientation during a group meeting. Showtime has ordered a pilot presentation from Bryn Freedman, a former journalist and executive producer of A&E’s “Intervention,” as part of its effort to bolster its unscripted slate.” [THR]

Isn’t LOGO already doing this? LOGO has a series called “Coming Out Stories”. It profiles people on their journey to come out to a family member, an ex-spouse, et cetera. LOGO is part of my basic cable package. Why would I pay Showtime for the same programming I get for free?

I see that Showtime is racing towards 1964! How about a gay sitcom instead?

what if a family member is angry not only to find out that a family member is gay but to be captured on camera being somewhat associated with him or her, what if he or she lashes out at the gay person because they are angry or embarrassed by it??im pretty sure something like this happened on some show before with fatal consequences for the gay person…jenny jones show or somethin like that??it wasnt a relative, but i can see relatives feelin the way the guy did…i hope this doesnt happen with this show

Reality TV sucks more than regular TV as Corporate TV tries to union-bust Actor’s Equity. I never liked Queer As(s) Folk (as I couln’t understand why it was set in a multicultural blue collar town; Pittsburgh yet everyone was so Preppy and caucasian for the first 1000 seasons- even the bad guy who sneered a lot) because it was obviously set in Toronto (where it was filmed) BTW – Oz was Gayer!

PS – Dave gives free BJs according to the e-mail he sent me…

Dave, you are so 10 years ago and all that Ummmming will never land you a job in public speaking, television, radio, politics or one of those fabulous gay cocktail parties you wished you could get an invite.

BTW – Way Out will FLOP (Showtime has Flopsweat!)

I hate fake reality~~~~~ I can’t believe anyone still thinks these shows are REAL…. THEY ARE NOT! Ask anyone who works on one. Producers screw with all the people to get the big suprise.
Boycott this show!
