Think of Ted Cruz‘s father Rafael as an older, unwiser version of Ted Cruz. The apple did not fall far from the tree.
Cruz Sr. is no stranger to spouting Bible-laced nonsense into a microphone all in the hopes of Teddy gaining attention.
In the past he’s gone so far as to assert that gay people being called “gay” is actually a conspiracy by liberals to make it more socially acceptable. Because gay means happy! Mind. Blown.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Below, he tells a crowd that, “The devil overplayed his hand,” with the SCOTUS marriage equality decision.
He continued:
“You’ve got to realize that that decision was not about homosexual marriage, that decision was a decision against religious liberty. What was the basis for their decision? It was the 14th Amendment. That means they’re calling homosexuality a civil right. Understand me well, if they’re calling homosexuality a civil right, that means that the next obvious step is a homosexual may come to your church and demand to be hired, whether as pastor or a janitor is immaterial, and if you say, ‘I’m sorry I cannot hire you because it violates my religious faith,’ you’re going to be slapped with a civil rights discrimination lawsuit.”
Like father, like son.

If you don’t want to hire gays, then make your church a private club and give up the publicly-subsidized, government-sanctioned, tax-free money-making scam you’re running. It’s just that easy. Then you can discriminate all you want.

Yeah, that’s exactly why millions of us fought for SS marriage… so we can now march down to our local Baptist “Church” and demand a job on the janitorial staff. Smart man. You figured us out! Damn.

Why are so many people obsessed with gay sex? Gay life is NOT all about sex. If they would get to know us they might find out how little sex so many of us have and that we try to help a lot of people who are not gay.

You gotta wonder, if these two are not gay, WHY do they care what two or more consenting men do with each other?
WHY?
I do not like mayonnaise. I avoid it if I can, but I have no problem with other people slathering their food, their faces, their behinds, whatever, with mayonnaise. It’s not my taste, so I don’t eat it if I don’t have to.
No one–NO ONE–is making Cruz padre y hijo get near a d*ck that isn’t theirs. So why are they so obsessed?
The hangers banging against their crazy heads want to know!

I can’t begin to tell anybody how many men like this (Rafael) I have met throughout my life. They preach one thing on Sundays, but can usually be found cruising parks and bath houses the rest of the week.
In fact, I’m seeing one at the moment 🙂

Apple-tree. Not surprising, certainly, however, it remains as offensive as ever. These people are narcissists. They wallow in stereotypes that focus in on themselves and their own religious tenets, believing that everyone must think as they do. Ridiculous, ungrounded assumption.

In theological parlance, Rafael Cruz is a heretic. He and his girly-looking son Rafael “Ted” Cruz are repressed homosexuals. The pathology of these two men is a clear indicator that they are at some level dangerous sociopaths. When men obsess over the sexual habits of gay men, those obsessing over gay sex at some level crave it. They are by far the worst of the worst, because in their odious state of self-righteousness (and what did JESUS say about that one?) they simply want to bring harm to those of us who simply want to live our lives — AS WE HAVE BEEN CREATED. Rafael and son Rafael Jr. are sons of Satan.

This is really kind of funny…He sounds like an elder Ricky Ricardo (no offfense to Desi Arnaz, just the character)….They never show his “congregation” in these videos..The reason is obvious…Those few who murmer “that’s right. Uh-huh, amen “et al are clearly “shills” to fill some empty seats of which there must be MANY….There is no traction there. Zip. None. he is there to gather the donations to his whackedout “church”…Sonny boy Ted can’t NOT be really thinking he is a help to his campaign efforts….or can he? Circus performers.

Congratulations, Raphael. You Nailed It, Bud! I was just getting ready to go for my interview aT the local First Baptist Church here in Pinellas Park. Hey, I had sent my resume, written a great cover letter, and even added a few ‘postscripts’ to show how dedicated and conscientious I am. But you ‘caught on’ and ‘outed me’. I guess I’d better just forget that interview and kiss the wonderful position of Janitor good-bye.

Rafael and Ted Cruz are devout Reconstructionists. They believe that our present government should be abolished and a theocracy created, one that follows the tenets and dogma of Christianity. It would be comparable to Sharia law in Islamic countries and the major practice of ISIS. Reconstructionists will allow freedoms to exist if they support and or abide by Christian teachings. What amuses me about their stand against homosexuality is their use of Leviticus. That is an Old Testament book, and until recently, meant one the followed traditional Jewish practices. With Christ and the New Testament, those old beliefs were discarded and the former god of wrath was replaced with a god of love. Some of that newness and the ability to discard Jewish practices and customs coincided with a view of Jews as “Christ-killers” and therefore, to be shunned. Since most of the laws in Leviticus haven’t been observed in centuries, the revival to make same-sex marriage an “aberation” meant they had to also accept the whole Sodom and Gomorrah legend –and myth. It is all selective politics. But they can’t escape their hypocrisy.
russellhm
@Kangol: I have to believe their obsessions are prompted by fear, fear that acceptance of homosexuality and honoring its practices such as same-sex marriage threatens their bigoted and religiously radical beliefs. Like Shariah law–ISIS–they want everyone to believe just like they do. My mother would have said, “Safety in numbers!” But the minority in this country has long been protected from the tyranny of the majority, until the Republican party took control of both chambers of Congress. 2016 must change that control.

Ted dear, I know you are a foreigner and not very fluent in English but your ignorance of our Constitution is appalling. Perhaps you should go back to your land of birth.
“You’ve got to realize that that decision was not about homosexual marriage, that decision was a decision against religious liberty. What was the basis for their decision? It was the 14th Amendment. No Ted. By the Constitution a chrch can decide who it hires and does not hire without the requirement of following civil rights laws. That is why the different churches over the years have been able to restrict their membership to particular ethnic or racial groups, hire and fire according to whatever their particular sky pixie demands etc. Nothing about the recent Supreme Court decision changes that and no one is demanding they change that. So don’t worry, you can contiue to restrict your membership as you see fit.

At least the son has the excuse that he was raised by an ignorant, bigoted father … although I strongly suspect that his dad was subjected to the same religious brain-washing when young.
GayEGO
To be so against gays generally indicates that they fear gays because they are gay, hence homophobic.
Bubbleandsqueal
They’re less tolerant of gays (and there’s no same-sex marriage) in Cuba. Maybe he should go back there, and have a happier dotage and death.

Since they can’t tell the truth about the gay community or themselves for that matter the best they can do is lie. But, but, lying is a sin!

Are they this adamant about other types of “sins”? Especially with the Ashley Madison unveiling that recently sent thousands of Christians running to their pastors to ask for “corrective instruction” you would figure they would be ranting and raving about adultery since that is supposed to be taboo in the eyes of the lord. Doesn’t the bible say something about not sleeping with your neighbors wife? Hey, it didn’t say anything about not sleeping with your neighbors husband! I have taken the stance that since eating shellfish is an abomination I refuse to listen to any Christian spouting their biblical rederick until they have stood outside Red Lobster and let all the shrimp lovers have a good dose of “We love you but we hate the shrimp eating that you do!”
Jay Saltz
Do they want to try gay sex? I know some gay people in Texas for them.

Forasmuch as it has pleased Almighty God to make unto Himself man in His Own Image from where do these dingbats get their theology? Theology – the words we use to speak of the Divine – and what appears these people say seem to me to be mutually exclusive. It is contrary to the Divine Nature of God to hate, leastways as these folk seem to hate. It is contrary to God’s very Nature to hate what he has created just as it is against the human nature of a parent to hate his/her child. God does not make mistakes in His creation. If He does then he is not God, at all. How much more blasphemous can we imagine than for us to attribute to God a defect of nature? God does not create and include in His creature the seeds of its own perdition. Humani nihil a me alienum puto, gentlemen! Time to return to return to the study of basics, I think. The tree that bears the sort of strange fruit that you people see is the tree that is ready for the chainsaw and the fire. No good can come of it.

What Christian got to do with it?.

Get over it! It doesn’t seem to be a problem for people Netherlands for 14 years. How come it is a problem to religious Americans? Religion is the root of all evil!
Billysees
@Henrik:
” It doesn’t seem to be a problem for people [in the] Netherlands [or Canada] for 14 years. How come it is a problem to religious Americans? ”
Because America is a capitalist paradise. There’s big money and influence to be had inserting ‘religion into a political narrative’ or inserting ‘politics into a religious narrative’.
1EqualityUSA
Billysees, It’s futile to insert religion into civil laws and politics, as the laws the Tedious Right manage to get “inserted” may be over-turned in a few years (or months). All of those resources go down a rat-hole and no hearts are won. It also opens the doors for future abuses, should the precedent be set, now, by foolish Texans and Tea Partiers. Oppression will not bear Spiritual fruit.

There is so much combined ignorance in this family it is difficult to understand how they manage day to day. If only I could have been a fly on the wall as Cruz SR the pastor explained to his son how he could be a man of God and hate most of God’s creations. It’s not that unusual for a man of Ted’s father’s age to be ignorant but it is strange that the son shows no sign of any more enlightened attitudes. Perhaps the biggest danger society faces from morons like these 2 is that they don’t believe in separation between church and state. They firmly believe in using government to further their sick and hateful religious beliefs that have no basis in the teachings of Jesus or Mohammed or Allah. It’s just their twisted view of how they want things to be. Small minds can’t handle variables so they need everybody to be the same in their thinking, dressing, looking, etc for them to be happy. Should the world homogenize so the Cruz’s are happy? NO, we should let Darwin take over and weed out the simple-minded people who can’t handle the rainbow spectrum of people God created.
Celtic
“We tolerate no one in our ranks who attacks the ideas of Christianity. Our movement is Christian.” Adolph Hitler, 27 October 1928. Just as Hitler in 1928 used the “Christian” doctrine to impose fascist rule, so goes the Cruz family. The larger problem is how they attract a not so small population of followers. Their entire theme is built upon hate and intolerance, to say nothing of blatant ignorance. Simple minded people buy into this form of tyranny, believing “their” religion makes them better than others — even others who claim the same religious faith.
Frankly, I believe the United States has reached a seismic point in our history, where a volcanic surge will soon possess this nation that will be so sweeping we will see a new war on home ground. And, I am being quite serious. The United States is becoming unraveled at multiple levels, and people such as Cruz, Huckabee, Rubio Bush and Santorum are at the forefront of that unraveling. Each in his own way wants a fascist state and a theocracy, which are in fact inseparable in most instances.
1EqualityUSA
or…they’ll peter out and become just as dated as George Wallace. As Jerry Garcia said, “You plant ice, you’re going to harvest wind.” These men are nothing-burgers.

@1EqualityUSA:
” It’s futile to insert religion into civil laws and politics… ”
I agree. But an attempt will always be made to do so and hopefully as you say, they may be over-turned later on, assuming they are truly discriminatory.
