U2 Remains Obsessed With Promoting Equality

Is U2 sending a secret message in its new animated music video for "I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight"? If by "secret," you mean "blatantly obvious," then yes: That's a giant equal sign at the beginning of the clip, which we all know stands for SUPPORTING THE GAYS. Which they keep on doing.

The real question is, is it real support or Madonna type support, where you support anything and everything that will sell your music?

Hi Galefan2004! Well, Bono has been involved in humanitarian causes with a nod toward a Nobel Prize. I would hope that he is being honest and is behind causes. I like the music but I really like Bono as a person. I did play "Pride In The Name of Love" on college radio alot tho.

@Joanaroo: I am unqualified to speak on this subject matter because the closest I've ever gotten to it is seeing how Bono is lambasted on South Park. Then again South Park lambaste on an equal opportunity basis.

I think that's just the album's logo. Is it possible that you're reading too much into it? Sometimes two parallel blocks are just two parallel blocks.

Is it not a bit far fetched?

Sorry, "Sir" Bono accepted a knighthood from the nation that oppressed his people for centuries, and then it was revealed that U2 had all their assets tucked away in a Dutch tax shelter, so they wouldn't have to pay taxes in their homeland. This while they traveled the globe berating everyone else to give all their money to Africa. Nobel prize? Tell me this manic narcissist isn't lobbying for it. Essentially he's the music world's Obama. Who needs him? (Nice video, though.)

@EveryoneKnewHimAsNancy:

Gee… gotta make sure we knock down the tallest daisy, eh?

It's not an actual knighthood because he's not a commonwealth citizen, so he doesn't get the "sir".

But if you ever wind up doing as much as he does see how many skeletons people find in your closet. Of course nobody gets it right all the time, and I'm sure there's a fair chance he's an arrogant prat in person, but he could do worse, like Sir Mick Jagger having tea with Margaret Thatcher.

I'm not a big fan, just happy for the things he DOES do, like giving shit to his copyright-rabid manager in public:

But he should lose those silly glasses. It's not like he works on a construction site.

@strumpetwindsock:
Even more to the point. He sells out his own people for a useless, honorary knighthood (just like Ted Kennedy)that doesn't even put him on par with Elton and Mick. How pathetic. He's Mother Theresa in a leather jacket, all right.
