Uprising.

South African gay activists are all riled up over the recent murder of Johannesburg-based drag queen Desmond Dube: "In response to the killing, the 07-07-07 End Hate Crimes campaign will host a Community Speak Out event on 2 July at the Yeoville Recreational Centre, encouraging dialogue and discussion on hate crime awareness. LGBT activists are concerned at the increasing levels of homophobic attacks throughout the country, usually targeting black lesbians, and intend to monitor the police response to Dube’s murder." Well as more non-black South Africans leave the country or get killed we will start to see more and more of an erosion of GLBT rights. And non-safety will sadly become more prevalent. Remember that the high court decision that undid discrimination on marriage was made mostly by a non-black South African court.

I pray the non-blacks are killed before they get a chance to leave. Its too bad they are not already dead. Death is their just reward as God so wills it.

Check out the all Muslim countries in Africa. Scary compared to South Africa. Name one that is gay friendly. Morroco used to be but no longer.

No doubt that SA is going towards the African norm - and going down the tube fast, with power cuts, the intelligent fleeing, investment pulling out, crime rates off the scale, an illiterate buffoon as president (and the next president a man who believes that showering after sex prevents AIDS).

Shame that the old white racists who said that: "If SA is ruled by blacks you see how quickly it declines" have been proved correct

But que sera sera.

No amount of screaming by the deluded on here who don't like the reality will alter the facts

@ Churchill-y. "by a non-black South African court". That's just not true. The extension of marriage to all South Africans, regardless of sexual orientation, was ordered by the Constitutional Court (our highest court). Since 1994, most members of this 11-member court have been black people. The current chief justice and the deputy chief justice are both black.

And the necessary amendments to legislation were passed by our mostly-black parliament. And signed into law by our black president.

@ Beelzebab. I dislike President Thabo Mbeki for many reasons, not least of which is his failure to intervene in the Zimbabwe crisis, but it is a complete distortion of facts to call him either illiterate or a buffoon. He is both highly educated and consistently dignified.

Thanks Andy for providiing actual facts as opposed to the distorted, uninformed and bigoted opinion of churchill. But I am sure you have noticed on this site that people like churchill never let actual facts get in the way of blowing off at the mouth. Every village has its idiot.

ANDY, you'll quickly learn that responding to CHURCHILL-Y is completely useless and I hope that will not discourage you from leaving insightful comments! And don't be fouled by BEELZEBAB's fake indignation, he holds as much bigotry as CHURCHILL-Y!

Oh dreary me,

So, SA is NOT going down the pan, the economy is not shot to pieces, the crime rate is NOT off the scale. The President does NOT think that Aids can be cured with herbal remedies and the future president does not think aids can be washed off by having a shower? The country does not suffer from Power Cuts everyday.

And everyone who can is NOT leaving and trying to get to the (White) ruled countries of the world?

How wrong I am - Silly old me.

South africa is bucking the trend for africa and will be a prosperous, sophisticated technological society run by and for the interests of the whole people in a democratic manner (not simply for a bunch of fuckwits creaming off the wealth for themselves, their cronies and their families! ).

oh, and pigs can fly. Look, there goes one there.

Beelzebab, you've convinced me. My life here is an empty sham. there is no point in continuing to live in this country — not for me or anyone. Please ask your president to nuke us. Thank you.
