Utah Legislator Wastes Congress’ Time With D.C. Marriage Repeal

While some reps are interested in furthering equality, Rep. Jason Chaffertz wants to limit it: “Rep. Jason Chaffertz (R-Utah) submitted Amendment No. 16, which would invalidate D.C.’s marriage law unless D.C. voters approve it in the next general election. … Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) filed Amendment No. 77, which would prohibit the use of funds for D.C.’s domestic partnership law, which stems from the Health Care Benefits Expansion Act of 1992.” Luckily, if there’s one thing Congress knows how to do well, it’s ignore legislation.

So yet another Mormon attempts to pass a law aimed squarly at homosexuals….yet of course the church keeps claiming it isn’t anti-gay. Just like it wasn’t anti-black until around 1980 when they finally stopped barring African Americans from membership.

Rep. Jason Chaffertz is also against HR 2517 – the Federal Employees Domestic Partnership Benefits and Obligations Act. The bill was up before the Subcommittee on Federal Workforce, Post Office, and the District of Columbia and he did not fail to show the fact that he did not want this bill to pass.
