Best of GayCities 2011

Vote For Your Favorite Resort Town And Win A Vacation Package For Two!

The nominations are in for our sister site’s annual Best of GayCities poll, and this year the competition is fiercer than ever!

Our focus today is on the unwound nominees for the world’s best LGBT resort town: Palm Springs, Provincetown (left) Rehoboth Beach, Saugatuck and Sitges.

Which gay mecca gets your vote as the globe’s best revitalizer?

Palm Springs
Just a few hours away from the bustle of Los Angeles, Southern California’s way-gay desert getaway is home to nearly 30 men-only and clothing-optional resorts, including Inn Exile and the Canyon Club—plus hip queer-friendly properties like the Ace Hotel. In April, the White Party draws thousands of circuit-party fans for top DJs and musical acts. (Robyn performed in 2011.)

Provincetown
In New England’s beloved gay village, the fun starts at Commercial Street’s legendary Crown & Anchor and radiates outward to hangouts like like the Boatslip and the Atlantic House dance club. Visitors often rent private homes for weeklong stays, but short-term guests love guesthouses and B&Bs like the Beaconlight, Romeo’s Holiday and the women-only Fairbanks Inn.

Rehoboth Beach
For more than three decades, Delaware’s Rehoboth Beach has been a popular getaway for Philadelphia, DC and Baltimore gays looking to catch some rays (and someone’s eye) at Poodle Peach, or just relax at the Silver Lake Guesthouse and the Ram’s Head Inn.

Saugatuck
Just a two-hour drive away from Chicago along beautiful Lake Michigan, tranquil and arty Saugatuck has been the gay pearl of the Midwest for some forty years. Kick back at Campit Outdoor Resort or Beechwood Manor Inn, or jaunt over to the lakeside dunes at Oval Beach, infamous for both relaxation and recreation.

Sitges
Less than an hour from Barcelona, Sitges (right) is still emerging as a LGBT destination, making it something of an undiscovered gem. But you’ll still find loads of sun-loving gays at Playa de la Bassa Rodona and Playa de las Balmins. When the sun goes down, the fun moves to popular clubs like El Horno and XXL, which pulsate well into the wee hours.

Now that you know who’s in the running, don’t delay: Vote now and you too could be a winner! One lucky GayCities member will nab two tickets to the U.S. city of their choice (courtesy of our friends at American Airlines) and two nights at a top-rated hotel (courtesy of GayCities).

You’ve got until January 4 to add your voice to the mix!

All winners will be announced on January 5. Anyone can vote, but entrants must be GayCities members to qualify for vacation package.
