Washington D.C.’s gays will be able to marry beginning March 9, but if you wait until March 20 you can be part of the largest gay wedding in history. Well, if organizers pull it off. “The largest gay wedding in history is scheduled for Saturday, March 20th in Washington, DC. Up to 400 couples will exchange vows breaking the current Guinness World Record. The celebration is part of an all-day series of events called Our Time Has Come, a title chosen to signify the long road that many couples have traveled to marriage. Events slated for March 20 include a large group ceremony, individual private ceremonies and a gala-style reception. All portions are scheduled at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium, an ornately gilded historic venue on Constitution Avenue, the event is being hosted by GLBT Wedding Services.” LOL. Of course this is a business venture. [PRNW]

DC will be the totally amazing wedding capital of America. There is either a secular option (the judges at Superior Court are great, and several are friends of Dorothy), or else there is the coalition of more than 250 clergy who are gay/lesbian affirming and welcoming us. Episcopal, try Grace Church, by the Potomac River in Georgetown, Methodist, fabulous Dumbarton Church, Jewish, Bet Mishpacah, Unitarian- All Souls ( our longest ally for decades), and of course, the glbt denomination, Metropolitan Comunity Church (MCC). There are a million beautiful places to celebrate, many free in the parks and beautiful spaces.

My partner and I traveling to Boston in May to be married. If we could find the time, I would totally be interested in participating in this event instead.
