Damn good question. If she was 17 I have very little doubt that those photos would meet the statutory definitions for illicit child pornography. My guess is that, instead, she took the photos a few weeks ago and attempted to pass herself off as the victim of seedy photographers.

She should weigh in on this, because the initial reports claimed these were taken when she was 17, although she only refers to herself as a “teenager” in her press release. That still seems unlikely to me.

And this kind of scrutiny is what you get when you attempt to launch a career based on bigotry.

@Alec:

But this is so redundant.

Are you really saying Europeans are more mentally advanced then Americans, whish is why our ages are around 16-18??

WHY is this a big deal??

Are you brought up on such delusion and popcorn, TV, Hollywood that it’s soo odd that some bitch who wants to be the pretty girl, will pose half nude for attention plus $?

Oh, bollocks.

I’ll go back to not commenting on this site again.

Fair enough.

@John from England(used to be just John but there are other John’s): Many (if not most) of our states have set the age of consent at 16. The age set for pornography is usually set at 18 at the state level and is definite set at 18 at the federal level.

Moreover, I think the rule for most countries, when it comes to the production and possession of images, is 18. I’m not certain there is a country that permits pornography where this is not the case. Prosecutions for photographs of minors at the age of sexual consent are fairly rare, but not unheard of.

Anyway, it’s a big deal because she lied, whatever you think about the merits of our law.

@Alec:

I know she lied. To be honest I don’t understand why we are STILL talking about her…

But I loathe the fact that we should udse the ‘under age’ crap to get her more attention, as if it’s sooo UNBELIEVABLE?! When it isn’t.

But yeah she lied, she lies, she always lies, erm she’s just a fake blonde beauty queen with an ok nose job who wanted to be a beauty pageant in a state.

Sigh.

@John from England(used to be just John but there are other John’s): She was just a wannabe beauty queen until Perez Hilton asked her the question, she responded and then went on to become a spokeswoman for anti-gay groups.

You nip the Anita Bryants of the world in the bud before they have any opportunity to blossom. After the media are done chewing her up and spit her out she’ll be lucky to land a job as a model at a used car dealership.

This isn’t about her support of “opposite marriage” for me; it has much more to do with what she decided to do after Hilton popped the question and she responded.

What you sow, you reap.
