An eagle-eyed reader sent us a screencap over the weekend, noting that the Washington Wizards Wikipedia page had been hacked to reflect Jason Collins‘ coming-out…by calling him a faggot.
Collins has been on the receiving end of an unfair amount of criticism since coming out last Monday, mostly from certain folk who blanche at his being called a hero.
The Wash Wiz Wiki page has since been updated, with the more politically correct, less douchebaggy: “He was the first active male professional athlete to come out as gay.”
But since this is the age of accountability, you can still see the homophobic version of the entry here.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Now, we’re not casting aspersions, or anything, but someone should dust the internet for Ben Shapiro’s type-happy fingerprints. Then again, it may have just been the Syrian Electronic Army since this is right up their gay-baiting alley.

I don’t like the gay as a term to being with would rather be called a faggot. I am embrace the term it reflects more of my personality than gay. I view the word faggot as being more aggressive, masculine proud and defiant than the term gay. It’s just my opinion. I know those who coin the term negatively do not mean it in that way but that is the way I take it. So I am a FAGGOT until I die.

The page wasn’t “hacked”. You don’t have to hack wikipedia entries.

@androphilebeast: It’s still a slur, and was used as such here.
You’re welcome to reclaim it, but not everyone feels the same, and even reclaiming it doesn’t mean it can’t be a slur.

Please read what I said. I said that one it is my opinion and two that I realize that some coin it in a negative. By the negative I do not give them the satisfaction of the negative because to me I own it and to me it is never a negative. In my opinion its time to stop being a victim and take away the right to use the slur as a negative. We sit around and cry foul or we can do something about it. Personally I would rather own it be defiant and show them what a faggot is than cry about it. I am no different than most males I just love men. As soon as those homophobes wake up and see that we are not so different and we are not going to take their bullshit the better off our cause. I am only speaking of me and not others. I realize that others disagree and I respect that.

@Patrick: Apparently “hacked” has lost all useful meaning as a word if editing a page open to anybody qualifies.
But perhaps that’s inevitable, as common as it is for people who let others use their phone or computer, then claim that person “hacked” them just by posting as them on Facebook.

I hope whoever made that horrible change gets their account deleted.

@androphilebeast: That sounds ridiculous.

Many homosexuals and their supporters today are the vicious oppressors of liberty. They are the malevolent bigots driven by their own prideful prejudices into seeking vengeance; whether it be by slandering anyone with whom they disagree by labeling them a “homophobe”, demanding the criminalization of anyone who refuses them service, mandatory indoctrination of our youth by the State, or the destruction of religious charities and institutions; their agenda violates the very maxims of Natural Law leaving them only the tyranny of legislative oppression as their ONLY justification.

@Jean-Jacques Burlamaqui:
Fuck off, troll.
Heteros + the religious Right are not the oppressed where LGBT are concerned, they are most often the oppressors.
