In order to come to grips with his homosexuality, and to possibly help others, Mormon Jimmy Hales decided to document his coming out.
Jimmy captured the responses from his lifelong best friend, his brother, sister, roommates at Brigham Young University, high school and college buddies and, most adorably, his mother. (The Church of Latter Day Saints is making an effort to reach out to them with a new website, Mormons and Gays.)
While Hales remains steadfast and optimistic throughout the entire thing, we just can’t get past that whole “life of celibacy” part.

How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.

Mormon propaganda. He “comes out” to family and friends but the only reason they “accept” him is because he pledges to remain celibate. Forever. This isn’t acceptance and we need only look to the RCC to remind ourselves how well forced celibacy works.

Seriously, why bother? There is not reasoning with people who seriously claim to believe in a religion that is less plausible than Harry Potter.

I don’t get it. At the end of the video it says it is from “Facetious Productions”. Was he just being sarcastic through the whole thing, is he being sarcastic about being celibate, gay? And a big “Hey Girl” to a few of those other guys in that video is all I’m sayin’.
Jackhoffsky
I don’t know if he was being sarcastic although seeing his personality of film would say he has a mormon sense of sarcasm which… is not like yours or mine (i’m guessing).
In all, it makes it one of the most heartbreaking things I have seen on youtube in a while.
Oddly enough (and this is true), @TheAlmightyGod and I were having a discussion about it on Twitter and we both agreed it was pretty sad, LOL

In 6 months we’ll read about him getting arrested for lewd conduct in a public restroom.

More Mormon propaganda…
“Try NEW and IMPROVED celibacy!!!
NOW with 50% MORE loneliness, depression, and bitterness!
Who needs a fulfilling, romantic, satisfying sex life with all its physical, psychological, and physiological benefits!!
You have celibacy the church now!
Celibacy comes highly recommended by the Roman Catholic church***
So try celibacy today!”
***Celibacy may cause pedophilia, thoughts of suicide, and death. Clinical trials have shown patients may display erratic behavior, such as staring in Mormon funded anti-gay propaganda, disguised to look pro-gay. Celibacy should never be used under the guidance of religious council.

I couldn’t get through the entire video – so annoying. However, I feel terribly sorry for this young man he feels he has to be celibate. Very sad for you that you’re still buying in to the dogma of the mormon church – a sad sad life to not know the joy of loving and intimacy.

His deaf buddy’s reaction about him being single forever was so sweet and sad at the same time. This kid has a lot to sort out, still.

@MK Ultra: LOVE YOU.

He’s somewhat cute and knows ASL and Chinese. Mmmm hmm, yes. How sad that he is committing to a life of celibacy. That fact takes away from all the good parts of this video. Diminishing the coming out process to bargaining, as if in the edited out portions he quickly said “but it’s okay because I’ll NEVER have gay sex or be in a same sex relationship” right after coming out to each person.
Hopefully as time goes he will change his interpretation of his faith and allow himself to openly be in relationships with other men. It would be a shame if the only sex he ever has are discrete hookups so he can save face with the church.

That name Facetious Productions is kinda strange.
His mannerisms throughout appear that he’s imitating a Davey Wavey.
You know, pleasantness and being a happy camper type.
I think we’ll hear more form him as time goes on.
And making a celibacy claim — does that include abstaining from wanking to all of those beautiful fantasies ?
DustinStarrak
Celibacy is a valid option for those uncomfortable with being with other people. It’s not necessarily a gay thing or even a guy thing. Good for him for coming to grips with it.
