In Nathan Keene’s short “Disarm” a young gay man arrives at the hotel room of an older hunk ready to get laid, but the conversation gets more serious than either expected. The full film has some slightly NSFW elements, so we’re linking off to it here. (Use code “nathan01” to access.)
Fun fact: Taris Tyler, who plays the older man, has been a stand-in for Hugh Jackman and has a role as a robot promoter in Real Steel.

why are gay films always about fucked-up people?
I guess a film about happy, well-adjusted people has no interest.
in French we say “happy people have no story”. In other words, there’s no drama in happy, well-adjusted people.
Still, it’s frustrating nonetheless to find so many independent film-makers feeling they HAVE to concentrate on the most seriously flawed individuals in the community, instead of finding more creative means of creating drama.

@MikeE: You nailed it. Why be creative when you can throw drugs, whores or psychological problems into the equation?
Have to leave it to Mainstream Hollywood to create a more compelling gay story. Which is really irritating.

why is it so dark? no money for electricity? i mean, really, that’s just annoying. Even the hallway is dark.
on topic: bizarre set-up. Yawn. Lost interest about 3 mins in. Tried to continue and it just got worse. This is like an adult version of the After School Special.

Try reading the article on “public sex” and then watching this video.
This video kind of explains the appeal of anonymous sex in parks. At least there’s no libido-killing conversation!

Well “well adjusted” is kinda of boring anyways…even for straight people having sex…

Don’t be so negative and jealous…real life looks like this…
This also looks like “Shameless” only more interesting…

Tedious and dull. If I was looking to play, and this conversation started, I would of been gone at minute 3.

I get the sense that the writer is saying, “We can say FUCK! Cool! Let’s say it a lot!”

I kinda liked it. It was a well put together little short and both the actors were compelling enough.
