WATCH: Anchor Bay Celebrates 4/20 By Releasing Trailer For Stoner Flick High School

>Sadly, we just realized today isn’t just National Day of Silence, it’s 4/20—the international day for getting high. (It seems 4-20 is police code in Hawaii for pot, or something equally dumb.) So while thousands of kids will be purposefully withholding their voices, thousands more will be blazing up. Like the teens in this trailer for Anchor Bay’s new stoner movie, High School, in theaters June 1. Enjoy!

420 has nothing to do with any Police code for marijuana. Huffington Post has a great article tracing the term back to its origins in Southern California in the early 70s.

No, 420 isn’t Hawaiian. Originated as code in a California high school in 1971 as the time of day to meet to get high.
