If you thought Tobey Maguire bulked up to become Spider-Man, then you haven’t seen Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Adonis version of the comic book superhero.
The very humble Andrew told Ellen that he wasn’t wearing anything underneath the very skin-tight costume, and that when papparazzi sneaked on set to take photos, he got a little self-conscious. (No sex please, we’re British?)
Said Andrew: “It was an acting exercise… Knowing that your keister has been shot from many different angles makes you very uncomfortable.”
But if it’s bulge and butt you’re looking for in the 3-D film, don’t get ahead of yourself. Garfield told Entertainment Weekly last year that the costume was fitted to be not-so-crotch-revealing, and perhaps in post-production they will darken that area, as they do in many of the following promo shots. The Amazing Spider-Man hits theaters July 3rd.
Click through for some shots of Andrew Garfield in the Spidey suit, and tell us in the comments if you think the costume was too de-sexed or if it shows just the right amount.
He’s too tiny. He really doesn’t fit the role or the costume.

I still need to get used to this suit even though the classic needed a desperate change.
but yeah I agree with Garfield, because I don’t like HIS ASS in THAT SUIT!!!!!!
·
Garfield is cute, but the costume is hideous. Looks like it’s covered in scales. The zigzag pattern on his hips, which matches a similar pattern on his feet, looks too much like the Nike logo. It’s like he’s wearing one of those Nike branded spandex swimsuits that Michael Phelps wears at the Olympics instead of a superhero outfit.
·
The costume really isn’t that different from the one Tobey wore. Garfield is leaner and the costume is a tad darker fitting with the tone of the new film.

He’s superbly hot, but I can’t want to have sex with him anymore because he’s popular. So that’s dumb. He shoulda done a gay porn instead of Spider Man.
·
@Charlie in Charge: It’s completely different when you see the whole thing. With superfluous seams and zigzag patterns running down the side, and a design on the feet that make it look like he’s wearing running shoes.
·
They did the same de-sexing trickery to Brandon Routh’s Superman.

Won’t be going to this one.

Thanks for saving me money.
·
Sorry, but the LAST thing Spiderman needs is a straight guy flat ass. If this guy doesn’t like it, then go get somebody else who fills out the costume.
·
If that’s an ample keister then I’m bootilicious
·
I just want to point out the suit’s contour work to give the appearance of tone and muscle. It obviously wasn’t enough.
·
He is curiously un-sexy. His hair and face make him look rather upper-crust. Maybe he will be better in the movie , hopefully.
·
THIS SILLY DORK IS SO DAMN DELUSIONAL IT IS NOT FUNNY!!! HE HAS —NO ASS—- WHATSOEVER!! HE THINKS HE IS “HAWT” AS YOU SAY ….WITH A GREAT ASS……… CAUSE DESPERATE GAY MEN TELL THIS IDIOTS THEY ARE HOT! YOU ALL NEED TO STOP….YOU COME OFF AS PERVERTS AND WE NEED TO POTRAY OUR COMMUNITY IN THE BEST LIGHT PEOPLE!!!!!
·
I don’t find him attractive at all and I don’t understand how he got picked for the roll…or why they felt the needed to start the franchise over again in the first place. I have zero desire to see this movie or even watch it for free when it comes to TV.
·
has anyone seen the guy who plays Spidey on Broadway?
now HIM I would pay to watch in that costume (or out of it).
I really don’t understand the casting on this film.
·
hmmm, he’s kinda like a barbie doll down there…
·
Don’t like him. If I go to see this it’ll only be because Emma Stone is in it.
·
The guy is adorable and has a perfect body. He was also in Dr Who season 3.
·
wow he really is bambi when he starts dancing like that at the end.
·
honestly, don’t like him, don’t like the new suit.
