KNOCKED OUT

WATCH: Boxer Orlando Cruz Reveals The Real Reason He Decided To Come Out And His Wedding Plans

Pro boxer Orlando Cruz says he came out because “I want respect. That’s it. It’s my decision, it’s my life.”

The out athlete will have a busy fall. On October 12 he’ll fight against Mexico’s Orlando Salido for the World Boxing Organization’s featherweight title and the 32-year-old Puerto Rico native told New York Daily News that he intends to marry his longtime boyfriend José Manuel in Manhattan this December. (Same-sex marriage isn’t yet legal in either Puerto Rico or Florida, where Cruz also resides.)

Cruz said he typically doesn’t talk about his relationships, “but José Manuel is a good guy, a good friend, a good boyfriend and after the fight I will get married, maybe in December, here in New York.”
