WATCH: Chris Kluwe To Serve As Gay Pride Grand Marshal

While it’s not as if we need another reason to see that our love for Chris Kluwe is reciprocated, we’re still excited by the announcement that he’ll serve as grand marshal for this year’s Twin Cities, MN Pride parade.

Out reports the Minnesota Vikings punter, who became one of our most vocal allies last October when he wrote a devilish open letter to anti-equality Baltimore Del. Emmett C. Burns Jr., will participate in the Grand Marshal Reception on June 21 and lead the Pride Parade on June 30. Kluwe has also taped a PSA for “I HAVE PRIDE” video campaign (above).images

“To me, it’s not about being an athlete speaking out about gay marriage or equality. It’s about being a human being saying ‘It’s not acceptable that this huge population of individuals have any less rights than me because they are gay’,” the athlete said in a statement released to the press. “I am proud to stand with Twin Cities PRIDE as an Ally with PRIDE!”

June will see publication of Kluwe’s Beautifully Unique Sparkleponies, a collection of essays on topic ranging from issues ranging from “faith and government to human rights and professional sports.”
