Watch Out! Convicted Gay Basher Kathryn Knott May Soon Be Released From Jail!

Gay men of Pennsylvania, take heed.

Convicted gay basher Kathryn Knott has been rotting away in a jail cell at the Riverside Correctional Facility in Northeast Philadelphia since February after she was sentenced to five to ten months behind bars for her part in a vicious attack against an innocent gay couple. But her time behind bars may soon be coming to an end, Philly Mag reports.

This week marks month five of her five to ten month sentence, and Knott is hoping she can finally–finally!–convince Judge Roxanne Convington to set her free. Though if history is any indication, it’s going to be a tough sell.

Before even checking into jail, the 25-year-old Jack Daniels aficionado tried getting Covington to declare a mistrial. When that didn’t work, she begged for a lighter sentence, saying she’d learned her lesson and that five to ten months was just too harsh. When Covington refused, Knott asked if, instead of jail time, she could instead film an anti-bullying PSA. She was again denied. Then last month, just days after the Orlando shooting, she once again petitioned for early release. And, once again, Convington said “no.”

Well, now that she’s reached the pivotal five month mark, Knott’s attorney thinks she has a much better shot.

“I am cautiously optimistic,” William Brennan tells Philly Mag. “The essence of stating a minimum is to say that this is the release date if she’s a model prisoner, which she has been.”

According to Brennan, Knott has stayed out of trouble while locked up and she’s secured a job for when she’s released. He plans to submit yet another petition asking for her to be freed later this week.

“I would think that our chances are better this time,” he says.

Of course, even if Knott does manage to convince Covington to finally let her go, her legal woes will be very far from over. She still has two years of probation plus a $2,000 fine to look forward to. Oh, and two separate civil lawsuits–one from the victims she attacked and another from a woman seeking $5 million and accusing her of conspiracy.

Considering that she’s about to step into the eye of a total shit storm, we’re not sure why Knott is so eager to get out of jail, but her attorney says he hopes to file the request as early as Thursday.
