Gay men of Pennsylvania, take heed.
Convicted gay basher Kathryn Knott has been rotting away in a jail cell at the Riverside Correctional Facility in Northeast Philadelphia since February after she was sentenced to five to ten months behind bars for her part in a vicious attack against an innocent gay couple. But her time behind bars may soon be coming to an end, Philly Mag reports.
This week marks month five of her five to ten month sentence, and Knott is hoping she can finally–finally!–convince Judge Roxanne Convington to set her free. Though if history is any indication, it’s going to be a tough sell.
Before even checking into jail, the 25-year-old Jack Daniels aficionado tried getting Covington to declare a mistrial. When that didn’t work, she begged for a lighter sentence, saying she’d learned her lesson and that five to ten months was just too harsh. When Covington refused, Knott asked if, instead of jail time, she could instead film an anti-bullying PSA. She was again denied. Then last month, just days after the Orlando shooting, she once again petitioned for early release. And, once again, Convington said “no.”
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Well, now that she’s reached the pivotal five month mark, Knott’s attorney thinks she has a much better shot.
“I am cautiously optimistic,” William Brennan tells Philly Mag. “The essence of stating a minimum is to say that this is the release date if she’s a model prisoner, which she has been.”
According to Brennan, Knott has stayed out of trouble while locked up and she’s secured a job for when she’s released. He plans to submit yet another petition asking for her to be freed later this week.
“I would think that our chances are better this time,” he says.
Of course, even if Knott does manage to convince Covington to finally let her go, her legal woes will be very far from over. She still has two years of probation plus a $2,000 fine to look forward to. Oh, and two separate civil lawsuits–one from the victims she attacked and another from a woman seeking $5 million and accusing her of conspiracy.
Considering that she’s about to step into the eye of a total shit storm, we’re not sure why Knott is so eager to get out of jail, but her attorney says he hopes to file the request as early as Thursday.

Looks like she knows how to behave herself now that she realises her actions have consequences. I hope she has learned something out of all of this but I won’t hold my breath.

All she needs to do is start attending Mass and most of her kind will quickly overlook her unpleasant past.

@martinbakman: Sad but true. Religion gets used as a white wash to cover peoples transgressions all to often.

I never understood why her sentence was somewhere in the ballpark of 5 to 10 months instead an exact number of _______ days. Was that a strategy by the judge to tell her that if you have good behavior, you can be released after 5 months as opposed to the full 10?
Whatever the case, she got way more punishment than I ever thought she would considering who her father is. So that’s a plus. But I’d laugh my ass off if she had to serve the full 10 months after all those ways she tried to weasel her way out of her punishment when the trial didn’t go as she had hoped. How her attorney ever thought filming a PSA should get her out of her jail time is astounding. Did she get her lawyer from the Dollar Store?

And let me guess, the job is through connections from her dad.
Remember, she worked at a medical office and posted up patients X-Rays on her twiiter account. She completely violated HIPPA laws. Who would hire her?!

What a peach – she’s managed to stay out of trouble by doing her time in solitary confinement.

Good for her. You better hope Daddy can land you a job, sweetie. Otherwise it’s more prison time under some man’s thumb hoping he’ll pay your way. Well deserved.

@Dave Downunder: That wasn’t generally anti-religion. That was specifically anti-Catholic because the poster thinks it gives him WASPy class.

Motive, in asking forgiveness, leaves a biochemical trail, as with all of our thoughts. When the concept of forgiveness is revered, ego is reduced to a blip. If mercy is the principle from which we stray, ego emerges. I hope you pull out of this. Just don’t become a freaker. Spare us any over-the-top stuff in whatever direction you choose. A clean slate, a new day. Snap out of it. Each day, put your head on your pillow, knowing you did the best you can do. Live your life doing the best you can do. Say little, do much. Grow into something practical, useful, and kind. Give up booze. Drink water. Good luck. Life is what you make it. Happy trails to you.

She shouldn’t complain at all, since she really deserved 5 to 10 YEARS in prison. I hope the judge has the good sense to make her serve the entire remainder of her sentence.

@martinbakman: I know how you feel. Like the Vice Prez.
Sluggo2007
@osman: If “this a latino/Black,” it never would have made the media because it’s all too common.
Kangol
@osman: Exactly. She’ll end up with a cushy gig, because she’s young, white and connected. Hom0phobic, violent–hey, it can be explained away.
