Aspiring Men’s Health cover model Aydian Dowling sat down with daytime’s reigning queen Ellen DeGeneres to discuss life as a trans man, coming out to his parents and working on his fitness.
Dowling is currently the frontrunner in the mag’s “Ultimate Guy” contest with a month left before voting ends. Should he win, Dowling will be the first trans man to grace the cover of Men’s Health.
Dowling was particularly effusive of the support he’s gotten with the contest — he has almost 5 times as many votes as his nearest competitor.
“I think if there’s one thing you want in life it’s to do your own thing, to live your authentic self,” Aydian told Ellen.”Being on that cover will question the new average. Like, what is average? I think it’ll break that barrier.”
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Check out Aydian’s journey below and make sure to vote for him to be on the cover of MH.

Cute guy. The voice gives him away. If I met him in a bar I would definitely take my shot.
Arcamenel
Don’t see how the voice “gives him away”. I know plenty of cis guys with a voice similar if not more “feminine” than his.
iltman
I’m a gold star gay, but I’ve been following his campaign and I hope he wins, and yes I find him very attractive
Xzamilio
Yeah there’s nothing about his voice that screams “I was biologically female at birth.” He’s fucking hot… like he should be in Scissor Sisters or something.
Roberson Randy
I love handsome trans-men!
Prinny
Not one bit hot.
McShane
Congratulations, on winning at life Aydian. I hope you win. Go Ducks!

He’s gorgeous.
Regarding his voice, maybe the pitch is a little bit higher than the “average” biological male, but what is average anyway? There are biological women who have deep voices (deeper than some men if they are longtime cigarette smokers), and many straight men consider that attractive/sexy. So this guy isn’t doesn’t have the voice of Barry White or Vin Diesel… big whoop. He’s hot!
Arcamenel
Bruce Jenner a trailblazer? Typical of a white woman to ignore the thousands of trans people of color who have died visible or act as if Laverne Cox isn’t even relevant.
tricky ricky
@Arcamenel: cis guys? you feel a need to insult normal gay and straight men with a word transsexuals made up to make themselves feel better?
TriForceKid1013
@tricky ricky: What does it mean? I’ve never heard the term before
Prinny
@TriForceKid1013: not trans
James Baynes
He is so hot yummy
TriForceKid1013
@Prinny: Simple enough lol

Perhaps my specifications for “Hunk” are different than Ellen’s?
Louis
He is absolutely adorable.
I’m so glad Ellen put a spotlight on this subject as well too many people are too ignorant about transgender Americans.
Education and sensitivity are the helpful tools in that regard.
I really hope he gets the cover not only would that be wonderfully progressive but some struggling transgender child could see the cover and think someone just like me made the cover of men’s health magazine.
It’s always wonderful when people can inspire others and remind them they are perfect and valued just the way they are and were meant to be.
This makes me so happy.
Louis
@tricky ricky: Normal gay ?
Transgenders are just as normal as any if us are other is nothing abnormal about them and your comment wad highly derogatory and disrespectful.
Clarence Standish
Hunky adorable twink! I love that he’s being true to his soul. He’s beautiful and he shines with truth.
Robby Robinson
he’s super cute.
Jacob23
Ellen is so wonderful. I hope that she is able to get that woman some professional help.
DarkZephyr
@Arcamenel: God you are annoying.
David Edward Hollis
He’s helping many see Trans others in a very positive way
Jacob23
@David Edward Hollis: The only thing that will accomplish that is a handful of hallucinogens.
Timothy Herbert
I’m still partial to penis.
I’m curious how he can honestly address prostate cancer as a personal subject.
Bauhaus
@Timothy Herbert:
“I’m curious how he can honestly address prostate cancer as a personal subject.”
Empathy. The same way all decent people honestly address something they won’t ever personally have to go through. He’s got two brothers and a father. Who’s to say prostate cancer won’t ever become a personal subject to him?
If this isn’t a PSA for living life on your own terms… Gorgeous man and incredible story. His mother was amazing from the get-go.
Clark35
That woman is not a “hunk” and yeah it’s obvious he or she is trans. But I don’t see why a Trans”man” should be on men’s health’s cover anyway since this person is biologically and genetically female, and will never have a prostate, penis, or testicles no matter how much elective cosmetic surgery they get. I do find it funny how there are supposedly “gay” men who claim that they’re not sexually attracted to women or their sex organs at all, yet they talk about how they have or want to fuck a trans “man” in her pussy.
JessPH
Men’s Health magazine is about cis men’s health not trans men’s health.
tootsieroll
@Clark35: What is your problem with trans people? This isn’t the first trans post I’ve seen your toxic commentary on.
Clark35
@tootsieroll: I don’t have a problem with them; but when a Trans “man” is on a magazine for actual men then yeah there’s a problem with that since the trans”man” will never know what it’s like to actually be male, have a real penis/testicles/prostate, or really be the male sex/gender.
Louis
@Jacob23: childish trolling.
iBLOW
Where’s his 10 thousand dollars????? Isn’t that what you get when you go on her show?
