Movie of the Week

WATCH: “I Am Divine” — Portrait of a Queer Icon

I Am Divine

One of the most provocative celebrities of the ’70s and ’80s — and one of the legendary queers of the 20th century — Divine (AKA Harris Glenn Milstead) remains an icon for the outsider spirit that characterized his legendary appearances in the trash movie classics of John Waters.

I Am Divine is the widely acclaimed new documentary from prolific filmmaker Jeffrey Schwarz (whose other gay documentary film portraits include Jack Wrangler, Vito Russo and an upcoming Tab Hunter project). I Am Divine brings to life the spectacular personality and amazing career of Divine through colorful interviews and archival footage from classics like Female Trouble, Polyester, Hairspray and Pink Flamingos (yes, including the dog-poop-eating scene!).

Out today on digital (and coming to DVD April 8th), I Am Divine is this week’s WolfeOnDemand.com Movie of the Week. Watch the trailer above and then rent or download it directly from WolfeOnDemand.com and other fine digital platforms now.
