Icona Pop brought it to the ball but why are y’all gagging, though? The Swedish pop duo paid brilliant homage to ballroom culture — as immortalized by Jennie Livingston’s classic 1990 documentary Paris Is Burning — in their latest video, “All Night.” Legends and the legendary up and coming children are giving us LIFE and LOOKS fort days, but the real star is one Miss Leiomy Maldonado, aka Leyomi Mizrahi, aka the best goddamn voguer out there. Mother came to werq, hunties.

@ QUEERTY – I wouldn’t classify this as a “brilliant homage.” Where did you come up with that BS line? I would classify this as a low budget copy / conceptual rip-off of an iconic documentary. The music sucks, but those bitches can definitely dance.

Conceptual rip off? Jenny Livingston did a great job with her movie but she doesn’t own the ball culture. Was it a one-time concept for a filmmaker to document and discard, or is it a subculture that exists, inspires and remains relevant? I vote the latter and I gagged on this tribute as well.

Interesting that ballroom culture is predominately black, but they chose to feature mostly latin voguers from the scene…
