While accepting the Teen Choice Award 2013 for Glee as best TV comedy series, Lea Michele and the cast thanked fans for their support since the tragic death of Cory Monteith and dedicated the honor to their late costar.
“I wanted to dedicate this award to Cory, for all you out there that loved and admired Cory as much as I did,” said an emotional Michele about her boyfriend. “I promise that with your love, we’re going to get through this together.”
Monteith died July 13 from an overdose. The series will pay special tribute to the actor who played Finn Hudson in the third episode of its next season before going on a short hiatus.

I actually saw this show and it was so obviously a “if you bother to come, we’ll give you the award” show. And extra-credit if you’re on our network, Fox.
She was accepting not for the Best Comedy Series (which it won) but she was specifically up there accepting “Best Television Comedy Actress” if you can believe it. Her speech was sweet, though.

Not quite getting the gay angle here.

He was an addict that OD’d. Enough already.

@QJ201: I agree. It’s tragic that he was struggling with addiction, but why do we hold these young people up as some model of heroism when they die young? (See also Amy Winehouse, etc). Yes, it is horrible that this young man with potential is dead. But he’s starring on a show with an impressionable demographic and little attention is given to the fact that he was making bad choices and engaging in destructive behavior.

I feel bad for her. I lost a friend this year to drugs. You can beg, demand, plead for an abuser to get help and go to rehab but you can’t force someone to stay clean. I feel guilty that I couldn’t save my friend, can’t imagine what she is going through. I haven’t watched the show in years but I feel for every one connected to the show, specially her. I wish nothing but the best for her.

I can not stand this topic anymore… Yes, it was sad and unexpected, but it’s been a month, it is time to leave this matter behind…

I knew a girl in school named Glee! Let’s just say she lived up to her name. Just ask the boys!

Wonder if she has addressed her addiction to coke yet. Yea, like last seasons extreme weight loss was due to healthy eating and working out. Such hypocrisy.

@tominchicago: I agree with most of what you said, but I must say, the fact that hedied of a drug overdose and everyone knows it adresses the fact that he was making bad choices was engaging in bad choices pretty clearly. I couldn’t stand the show myself, but I do feel for the guy and those who loved him all the same.
