If you liked him on Ugly Betty and adored him in his super-gay role on Partners, you’ll love Michael Urie‘s turn as George, the philandering bisexual in Ash Christian‘s dysfunctional family comedy-drama, Petunia. Urie’s gay male love interest is the painfully insecure Charlie Petunia (played by quirky-cute Tobias Segal), while the fabulous Brittany Snow (Pitch Perfect) plays his understanding wife. The film’s ensemble cast is rounded out by Christine Lahti as Charlie’s Mom (a messed up psychotherapist whose marriage to emotionally checked-out husband David Rasche is totally on the rocks), and Thora Birch (American Beauty) as the bad girl sister-in-law messing around with both of Charlie’s brothers — Eddie Kaye Thomas (American Pie) and Jimmy Heck. Writer-director Ash Christian (Mangus!, Fat Girls) gives a characteristically twisted take on family secrets and gay identity in this New York City comedy-drama.
Petunia is this week’s WolfeOnDemand.com Movie of the Week. Watch the trailer above and rent or download it directly from WolfeOnDemand.com now.

Does Urie still think nobody knows?….that is sad…

@balehead – umm, Urie came out in “The Advocate” back in 2010

The super gay show “Partners”???
Oh, that would be the show where the gay guy was a neutered friend of the straight guy and was relegated to making the occasional bitchy comment while the laugh track attempted to drown out the crickets from the viewers?

@Cam: Hey Cam — My mistake there. Just adjusted it to be more accurate about his “super gay role” — which it sounds like you were not a big fan of! 🙂 Thanks for your note!

@Jenni Olson:
Ok wow, I was so irritated at the M Urie comment that I missed the whole thing about the link. That is GREAT, most of the larger channels have the same very small list of gay movies and programing!!
Does Wolfe also have a channel you can access through an Apple TV or a Roku? Something like Netflix? or is it all over the computer for now?
Thanks for the link!
