Years ago I saw Joe Jackson live in a small venue. The crowd was loud and “not paying attention,” I suppose. Jackson stopped playing, stopped the band, and stood there in silence for a minute or so and then told the crowd to “shut the fuck up”. lol It was great! The crowd shut up and he went back to an amazing performance. So… I’m with Morrissey on this one. Buying a ticket doesn’t include the right to throw shit at the performers. (unless, of course, you bought a ticket to a Maggie Gallagher speech)

i think his walking off is completely justified…he doesnt put up with much at his shows…about the only thing he puts up with are hot boys rushing the stage to hug on him…

I agree with RomanHanz. Entertainers are bound to face a range of reactions from their audiences, but I can’t see why they should be expected to face potential bodily injury lightheartedly.

What bullshit. What, singers should tolerate bodily injury? It’s okay to throw things as long as you don’t aim for the face? And do you actually have to be gay for your reaction to be termed a “hissy fit”?

It’s a ridiculous double standard. Here in New York, if you conked a bus driver on the head with a soda bottle, you’d be charged with a felony. In fact, I’m guessing you’d also get sued, and the victim would head straight for the nearest hospital. But a homosexual entertainer walks offstage and all of a sudden it’s Girlfriend, puh-leeze!?
