IDOL THREATS

WATCH: Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey Get Into It During “American Idol” Auditions

Well, Stevie Wonder playing hide-and-go-seek facedown in a darkened cave could have seen this coming, but diva extraordinaire Mariah Carey and candy-coated raptress Nicki Minaj are NOT getting along on the set of American Idol.

The new judges can be seen having a very heated exhange in the video above, with Minaj repeatedly shouting, “Off with your head!” Sources close to Minaj told TMZ that Carey called Minaj a bitch multiple times, prompting Nick’s explosion. Meanwhile, special shout-out to that unnamed intern who, seeing an epic storm a-brewin,’ shirked his duties and whipped out his camera phone.

TMZ reports:

Nicki feels Mariah has been wasting everyone’s time by constantly praising herself instead of focusing her energy on critiquing the contestants. [Ed. note: Nicki has never met, seen or heard of Mariah Carey before]

One source tells us, “She keeps bringing up how many records she’s sold, name dropping people she’s worked with, how many tours she’s done, and how many Grammys or awards she’s won … Nicki is tired of it.”

Though reports that Minaj allegedly threatened to shoot Carey have been disavowed by Minaj’s team and producer Nigel Lythgoe, another source says that Nick is convinced producers and member’s of Mariah’s team “are conspiring to get under her skin … because they think a pissed off Minaj will bring in viewers.” And boy are they right. Give us a pissed off Nicki Minaj, a clearly drunk Mariah Carey and Nicole Kidman staring ambivalently at her nails in the audience while Keith Urban dutifully earns his paycheck and Idol is back in a big way, Fox.

For now peace has been restored in the Idol world, but the next time that Mimi emancipates her claws, Nicki will storm off the set. And Ryan Seacrest will cackle girlishly into his millions.
