It seems joining a boycott of the Olympics is none other than the Olympic torch itself. At the beginning of its four month journey to Sochi, after being lit in Greece last week, the torch landed in Moscow, where it promptly went out in a sign of solidarity with Russian LGBTs. Or it might have been a wind tunnel in the passageway to the Kremlin, but we like to believe the torch is on our side — from one flamer to another.

wait a second, I remember the Olympic torch going out during another relay some time in the past, and someone stepping forward to light it with a lighter… and the DRAMA that caused.
apparently, the torches can only be relit using fire that comes from Greece. And they carry around a little lamp that was lit in Greece at the same time as the torch.
so, the Russians dropped the ball, blew out the olympic flame, then relit it with a crappy russian zippo?
ah, Russian class. they are just OOZING style, substance, and good grace.
