If it’s Thursday, there must be a new comedy routine antigay rant from our favorite living fossil Pat Robertson. In his latest tear on how gay and lesbian folks are desperate to recruit new teammates, the wizened one answers a question posed by one of his 700 Club viewers.
Catherine has just made contact with a long-lost friend she once regarded as a sister. She’s eager to see her again in person again and introduce her children but the friend wants to bring her “partner.” (I guess we should stop here to give Catherine her props for having the wits to recognize that “partner” equals lesbian). The long-lost lesbian’s family has shunned her and Catherine wants to show her love but doesn’t want to her to think she’s OK with “her ways.” And heaven forbid her children be exposed to a lesbian couple. Can this friendship be saved, P.Ro?
“You keep love, you loved her, you were close and your influence may have something significant to her, the idea is you don’t gain anything by shunning,” Robertson said. “But at the same you don’t want your children to grow up as lesbians, that’s what you’re talking about, you don’t want to show them that that’s an acceptable lifestyle for your family.”
With his infinite wisdom and loving, Christian heart, Pat adds, “It doesn’t hurt to tell somebody: I love you, we are going to do what we can to be friends if we can. I have my lifestyle, it’s Christian and you have yours, it’s not; I’m sorry we can’t indulge in certain things together.”

This man is a great comedian. I like that he admits that being Christian is a “lifestyle”. It certainly is. A hateful one in cases like this.

Oh, sure, Pat. Keep your kids ignorant about homosexuality and that will keep them from growing up to be gay.
And I suppose, then, that if your kid says he’s gay, you can just invite some straight guys over to show you that it’s an “acceptable lifestyle.” That’ll straighten him out!

Look, Pat Robertson HAS to be gay.
Why else would he think that being gay is SO attractive and unavoidable that just hearing about it or meeting a gay person would make somebody turn gay.
Only somebody who is gay and fighting those urges could possibly believe that.

Pat didn’t even bother to ask if the kids were female, which is, as far as I know, still a requirement to be a lesbian.
Or perhaps Pat had another vision* and decided that someone** told him that male kids exposed to lesbians would go on to become transsexual females, (at great public expense) and then, yes, they would convert to lesbianism. Because, well, it’s better.
It is so obvious.

I feel people are born with a certain sexuality. The first time I like a guy was a the first grade and that was before I realized I was gay. Psychologically, i think sexuality can not be learned. Does anybody feel this way?

@tripster: I think most people who express the belief that sexuality is a choice, or can be learned, are unwittingly revealing their own innate bisexuality.
If they’re not doing that then they are probably being deliberately obnoxious.
