President Obama’s nomination of Chuck Hagel as Defense Secretary has ruffled more than a few feathers, what with hs disturbing history on LGBT issues. But as MSNBC power lesbian Rachel Maddow points out, there’s a lot more to be disturbed by.

I don’t have an opinion on Hagel, but i do on Maddow. I have seen her interview muslims on her show and not once does she hold them accountable for homophobia and sexism in islam.

@brent: It’s because she, like most of the American left, is terrified of criticizing Islam lest they be labeled Islamophobic. It’s all cowardly babble as far as I’m concerned, and frankly I’m phobic of most religions.
That said, I do love her – I just wish she had a laugh track or studio audience or something. There are so many awkward pauses when she makes a great zinger to a silent studio.

@brent: “So I know that we were just talking about the debt ceiling Abdul, but I need to hold you accountable for the homophobia in islam!”
seriously?
she interviews people of many religions (who all may think differently about things, you know, not every muslim/christian/jew/hindu/etc. are homophobic…)

So who do we ask? I am active in confronting legislators directly. A direct email to question would be helpful. Queerty – how about adding this?
