What the hell is going on?! Earlier this month, Martha Stewart was awkwardly plugging Pine Brothers cough drops in a commercial immediately following the Golden Globes. This week, Richard Simmons is endorsing the canned tuna company Bumble Bee in a bizarre commercial/aerobics Youtube video.
We’re really not sure how we feel about the whole thing. Is it weird? It is genius? Also, who exactly is Bumble Bee trying to appeal to? We certainly won’t be racing out to buy a can later this afternoon. But we still kinda love the video, even though it makes us feel uncomfortable.
What do you think?
Watch Richard Simmons dance for tuna and sound off in the comments feed below.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.

Yeah, never much appreciated Richard Simmons.
This diet/aerobics/exercise guru has never been ripped – tuna or otherwise.
For someone who has been “exercising” for 35 years he certainly doesn’t have much to show for it.

Well, it is available for viewing on a few select websites.
I am 59 yrs old, 5′ 10″ tall, 150 lbs, 30″ waist.
I work out 3 days a week for about an hour after work – eat a hi-protein, lo-cholesterol, complex carbs diet – and sleep 8 hours a night.
It’s not rocket science – I bet Simmons has heard of this regimen.
If fitness was my career, I would undoubtedly look a little better.

In defense of Richard Simmons, his exercise routines are NOT for getting ripped, they are for losing weight, period. He used to be close to 300 lbs. and lost it by exercising, and eating right. And don’t forget, he’s almost 70 (I believe), so I suggest cutting the man some slack. He’s helped a lot of people lose weight and get healthy over the years.

Bless his heart. He looks better than 55 year old Madonna.

Richard Simmons is so astonishingly surreal. He’s done a lot of good for a lot of people, which I respect – but it’s his out-there humor that makes me a big fan. He just doesn’t give a fuck about his critics these days, which lets him do amazing things.
