KING OF HIP-POP

WATCH: Texas Rapper Adair Lion Releases MJ-Inspired “Gay Is Okay”

Adair Lion is a rapper on the underground scene in Texas, where he’s been making waves with both his style of music and his unusual message.

“Gay Is Okay,”  Adair’s first single off his album-length homage to Michael Jackson,  Michael & Me, samples “Ben,” the King of Pop’s early solo hit—and imparts a message of positivity for the gay community. “It doesn’t just get better, it gets awesome, homie,” the long-haired artist sings. “What I mean is I just wanna see you blossom, homie.”

Adair, who is straight, hopes that “Gay is Okay” will help hip-hop fans and members of the industry be more tolerant. He even has a word to the wise for playas looking to get with the ladies: “The hottest chicks/got a gay in their clique— remember that.”

Not exactly Martin Luther King, but he makes a good point.
