WATCH: The Full Trailer For Magic Mike, The Greatest Movie That Ever Was

After releasing a teaser earlier in the week, the creators of Magic Mike finally revealed the film’s full trailer Wednesday on Entertainment Tonight and we have to say, it makes Citizen Kane look like Ghost Dad. Cinema has been a art form waiting for this picture to bring it to life. Msr. Soderbergh you are a genius!

For those of you living on the International Space Station, Magic Mike stars Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello and Matt Bomer as dancers in a popular male strip club. They can just start inscribing the Oscars now.

Damn, that girlfriend is a Debby Downer. Get rid of her, and you might have a good movie.

There’s a rumor going around that this trailer doesn’t really give a good idea of what this movie really is – and that it’s really much more raunchy and not actually a rom com. If that’s the case, they need to SHOW THAT in the trailer.

Also: Where the f**k is Matt Bomer???

      Really?

Epic Trailer Fail! Where are the hotties? Not sure I can sit through a Channing romantic comedy even if Matt Bomer and Joe Mangeniello are in it!

Are you kidding me? This trailer was a MAJOR disappointment. I have zero interest in going to see the flick now. It just looks like another pathetic romantic comedy.

@Aaron – LOL! What did you expect, a docu-drama of the perils of stripping? I won’t be running to my local cineplex to see it but I might check it out, on mute, online.

I love Channing’s sloppy diction: he’s a stripper and “onchapennur.”

The greatest male stripper movie, that is, since Gregory Harrison’s FOR LADIES ONLY, 30 years ago.

I suspect there was some panic about the absolutely insane gay interest in the film and fear that it might be seen as a niche “gay interest” film, even without actual gay content. I also think that Hollywood is still as uncomfortable today marketing male flesh as they have always been. Remember, Soderbergh doesn’t make trailers, studio PR teams do…and they seem to believe there are only three or four major audiences to market to…in this case they chose “women who love romantic comedies.” All who discuss the film make it clear that its funny, but dark, and that it isbthe story of Pettyfer’s character being mentored by Tatum’s character. The core romance is supposed to be through Pettyfer’s character, not Tatum’s, as everyone who has read the script confirms this. The fact that Pettyfer, who Soderbergh, Tatum, and everyone who has read the script, says is remain character IS NOT EVEN IN THE TRAILER tells you that this is a deliberate attempt to emphasize the male flesh/stripping and emphasize what Hollywood views as proven…Channing Tatum, Matthew McConnaghey, and romantic comedies, even if none of them are front and center in the actual film.

      Sorry, damn autocorrect…

Pettyfer is the “main” character, but nowhere to be found here, in favor of one supporting character and two minor characters.

And the marketing team chose to “deemphasize” the stripping intentionally, even though that is what the film is about as much as anything else.

      @BreckRoy:

Everyone has been shafted apart from Tatum and Matthew Mc but they have messed up big time. Just been reading news outlets and everyone is like “where the hell is Bomer and Manganiello”. It’s pretty funny actually. Even the Pr friendly LA Times were like “missing cast members Matt Bomer and Kevin Nash”.

The funny thing is that Olivia Munn is supposed to be the love interest, not Horn. Oh well. At least Bomer doesn’t have to feel to shafted-he is credited 5th-as Pettyfer barely says anything! All he does is look glumly at Tatum’s back.

Such premise. Heard it was really good from people who saw early showings.

Where’s the red-band trailer? What are they afraid of? Steven Soderbergh usually makes some quirky movies – I bet the finished product will be campy and fun. I mean, it has to be, right?

I have a feeling this will be one of those movies where the trailer does not correctly convey what the movie will be about (kind of like Drive). They probably thought highlighting the romantic comedy aspect of the film would help widen its audience.

This is a godawful trailer, but Steven Soderbergh directed it, and he won an Oscar for TRAFFIC and brought us man other great movies (most recently CONTAGION) so I’ll withhold comment until seeing it. But the trailer makes it looks like cheap junk with hot guys who can’t act. We’ll see.
