While some may be buzzing about Argo‘s upset, or Jodie Foster’s nonsensical ramblings, the Golden Globes was all about Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. The dual hostesses with the mostesses nailed their hosting duties to the wall of the Beverly Hilton and our only complaint was that there wasn’t more of them.
In case you missed the broadcast last night (you didn’t miss much, b-t-dubs), above are some of the Poehler-Fey highlights, from Amy’s brilliant dedication to director Kathryn Bigelow (“I haven’t really been following the controversy over Zero Dark Thirty, but when it comes to torture, I trust the lady who spent three years married to James Cameron”) to Tina’s spot-on warning to a certain serial dater in the audience (“You know what, Taylor Swift, you stay away from Michael J. Fox’s son”).
Then of course there’s their kingly drag as faux nominees from the openly robbed Dog President, Darcy St. Budge (a psychic who solves her own murder) and Damian Francisco (a professional volleyball player battling Restless Leg Syndrome).
Amy and Tina even brought Glenn Close into the mix, thus creating one of the greatest gifs of all time.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
But arguably our favorite moment of the entire night was the SHADE Taylor Swift was throwing at Adele when she won Best Original Song for “Skyfall.”
We were expecting Taylor to storm the stage and pull a Kanye in any second. “Adele, Imma let you finish, but ‘Safe and Sound’ was one of the best original songs of all time!”
boring
You know what? I’m glad that Amy Poehler’s finally made it. I’ve been a fan since Upright Citizens Brigade hit Comedy Central in ’98.
But I do wish she’d just dig her hand in her pants and start throwing asspennies at everyone.
