Get ready for history to be made (again) at the US Supreme Court. Any day now, we’re going to get a ruling that will determine whether marriage can continue or must cease in Utah.
It would be an understatement to say that this is huge, but we’ll say it anyway: THIS IS HUGE.
Utah is one of the most conservative states in the country, with the lowest public support for marriage equality. And even though public support is growing, it would be truly amazing if we could skip past the years of difficult, expensive coalition-building and go right to the inevitable victory.
Of course, this Supreme Court decision isn’t the final word on Utah marriage equality. It’s just about whether the state can have a temporary stay to halt marriages during the appeals process.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
That appeal is looking like it’ll go very fast: briefs are due this month and next, with oral argument not long after. That means it’s possible that the case could reach the US Supreme Court for a once-and-for-all decision by the end of this year.
