QUINN FOR THE WIN

WATCH: Wilson Cruz Has A Favor To Ask You

Out actor Wilson Cruz has offered a ringing endorsement for New York mayor and the candidate’s last name is not Weiner. Cruz is asking New Yorkers to cast their ballots for Christine Quinn.

Cruz recalls meeting the current NY City council speaker when he served on the board of GLSEN. “It became very clear to me in our conversation that she was very passionate about the issue of LGBT youth,” Cruz, who gained fame as a gay teen in the ’90s series My So-Called Life, says in the video.

I think he’s such a great actor and inspiration in that field and I’m glad he’s found a new purpose, but my heart sank when he joined GLAAD, given how so much of what they do seems to be putting on swanky dinners for and mingling with the rich – the fundraising circuit (ie. award ceremony after award ceremony) – it just seems like a bubble of the well-off.
I wish he’d ditch all that guff and go back to the real beauty and purity of acting, something which he excelled at.
I still love him and am grateful for what he’s done as an actor over the years.
I just can’t stand that whole self-congratulatory wealthy back-slapping set and all they seem to do.
I hope he returns to acting again full-time. He;s worth more than all that…

Think having a young, openly gay mayor of the greatest Metropolis in the world might
send a positive message to gay people around the world? You bet.

Quinn, no thanks. She may work hard for wealthy people like actor Wilson Cruz (so cute), but she has proved to be a disaster for middle, working-class and poor New Yorkers (still the majority), who are being driven further and further to the edge of the boroughs by her and billionaire Mike Bloomberg’s pro-real estate/Wall Street/plutocratic agenda. That’s all she cares about. A few socially liberal dollops atop a rich person’s ice cream cone is no good for the 99%.

      Quinberg, no thanks!

@Kieran: “young, openly gay mayor of the greatest Metropolis in the world…”

Wow – I hadn’t heard that a young, openly gay person was running for mayor of Shanghai.

New Yorker self-absorption reaches a new height!
