They voted for the council members who are now in office. Those duly elected council members are in the process of doing their duties. This will blow over. The Congress won't touch it with a 20 foot pole. The Federal courts won't touch it with a 10 foot pole, other than to note that the council members are duly elected. Some of the bigots might try to make it a campaign issue in the next DC council elections, but that's about all. The people of Washington DC did vote.
