I've seen Marciano around and about town (Atlanta) and even once at dinner at a casual Italian place _with_ a man who one would assume to be gay.

I guessed the other man to be either his producer or his agent.

But it could have been a friend of neighbor, which would speak to his comfort level around gay men.

As to that other newsman who passed through Atlanta, we have actually seen Anderson Cooper in a gay bar/ nightclub (and not a mixed bar – nightlife in Atlanta can be less integrated than in say New York or LA).

And my partner saw his butt in the locker room of the gym they both attended.

One thing about the pic itself

If he is, as we assume, a straight guy- he most likely looks at the pic and thinks "dang, I look good"

If he were gay he would be thinking "dang, I look fat in that pic"

Of course in my eyes, the fact that his mid section appears somewhat less than rock solid- is a plus.

Looked at the link, the full interview wasn't available (not found/too old?) but what I saw was him saying that while he agrees with some of Al Gore's position on man-made global warming, he wouldn't blame Hurricane Katrina's strength directly on global warming.

Um, am I missing something here, but how do we go from there to him being a conservative homophobe? He didn't even say he denies glabal warming exists, or that we have contributed to it. Has he taken another public pro-republican or anti-gay stance on a major issue?

I still say he's a hot slab of beef…if he has a few conservative leanings…well, nobody's perfect and he's just too darn purty to be expected to be a genius.

I have seen rumors of him using anti-gay slurs against gay colleagues behind their backs.

If he is a straight GOP'er—eww, I'll pass! And if proven anti-gay, that's worse!

Hey guys. I knew him when he was still with KATU in Portland, OR. I was on the KATU advisory council. I along with the rest of the council got to meet Rob and the other news casters on several occasions. And I never, ever got the vibe that he was a hater. There were enough gay people at the station. We saw him interact with several of them and he was nothing but jovial and friendly. He is most definitely straight as well. We met his wife at the time on one of these meet and greets. They are divorced now. I, however, never got the impression that he was a homophobe. Doesn't mean he isnt', just I never got that from him.

I've interacted with Rob via CNN. He's a fratboy douchebag. All the people who keep trying to link him to being gay need to quit dreaming. He's a total trophy collector…likes the hot girls and arm candy. As far as him being a homophobe, it's kind of a stretch. He doesn't care either way. He's certainly not a friend to the community, but I don't think he hates us…outside the usual fratboy humor. But he's a card carrying Republican…to the core.

So I now ascertain he's straight, a man-ho, a republican, former frat boy, no real friend of the gays, but not a proven homophobe either. Yeah, the the magic is definitely gone.
