happy day

WEDDING PICTURES: D.C.’s First Gay Marriages: Angelisa + Sinjoyla, Reggie + Rocky, Darlene + Lorilyn

That’s Angelisa “Angel” Young and Sinjoyla “Tina” Townsend, together for twelve years and raising two children, getting married (and at this very moment as we write this), the first of the nation’s capital’s gay couples to wed. They look beautiful, and we’re tearing up here.

Says the Rev. David K. North: They are “partners in life in this day and always. Those who god has joined together, let no one put asunder.”

Now it’s time for Reginald “Reggie” Stanley and Rocky Galloway, who are raising two baby girls together. Says Rocky: “Simply put, you make me feel free. Free to be everything that God made me to be, free to live this life in all of its fullness. Free to love you the way you deserve to be loved: openly and deeply.”

For our third broadcast ceremony, we have the Rev. Elder Darlene Garner and the Rev. Lorilyn Candy Holmes, who are both D.C. natives. “At last this day has come. … I knew even then that we were destined to be here, today.”

Congratulations.
