What Amtrak’s $250K LGBT Ad Campaign Has to Say About … Discrimination?

Amtrak, the train service taxpayers pay for you to ride, is courting queers with a $250,000 summer advertising campaign. Naturally Andrea Lafferty, executive director of the Traditional Values Coalition, sees the news as a perfect opportunity to rail against hate crimes protections or something.

“We have to look at why they are targeting this community,” says Lafferty. “It is important to understand that this segment of the population has a lot of disposable income, and advertisers know this. It is absolutely not true that gays are unable to get jobs because they are discriminated against. This group is awash in money.”

By that logic, we can use Christian-targeted advertising to show how much money that community has, and why they shouldn’t be protected either, right?
