What Are the Chances Marion Barry Can Explain … Marion Barry?
If anyone deserves his own HBO documentary, it is disgraced former D.C. mayor and sitting City Councilman Marion Barry, the one-time gay rights advocate who is our newest crackpot foe. Airing tonight at 9pm, Dana Flor and Toby Oppenheimer’s The Nine Lives of Marion Barry will attempt to explain how one man — caught smoking crack! on tape! — still enjoys things like elected political office. Barry, who cooperated with the doc, says in the film, “For those people who are Barry haters, this movie puts it into perspective.” Let’s hope.

I get all sorts of “Cultural Cringe” anytime this fool surfaces publicly.
For those who don’t know what “Cultural Cringe” is — it’s that reaction that African Americans get when anyone sharing our cultural designation commits a heinously stereotypical act (or goes beyond stereotyping and sets a new precedent in negativity); ESPECIALLY those claiming to “represent” us in the public eye.
Yep… Marion… just please go away for the rest of your life… and then die quietly.

Well, it’s not a talk show, but as Americans never tire of clowns, he’s finally on television like I said he should be. Sarah Palin is surely next.

It’s even worse than that. He thought he was being politically smart. He supported DC’s marriage bill until this paster came and told him he was going to stir up trouble in Barry’s district, that he was going to get all the black churches on board and Barry would lose the next election.. Barry then claimed not to have signed the bill, of course the other councilors pointed out that he was a co-sponsor of it and had in fact signed it.
The hilarious part is, the one or two rallies they’ve had against the gay rights beill here in DC have atracted at most 100 people. You could get more people in DC to show up for a rally supporting mosquito appriciation day.
To make matters even worse for Barry and bunch of black churches here in DC put out statements SUPPORTING the gay rights/Marriage laws. So Barry completely miscalculated this one. At least if he was doing it for religeous reasons you could just chalk him up as being a blind follower, but he sold us out for even worse reasons.
