He’s sensitive. He cares what other people think of him. And he’s over-obsessed with appearances. We already knew Toy Story 3‘s Ken was going to lean gay; I didn’t know producers would push him over the edge in just the promo spots.
So I’m confused. Are we happy about stereotypes or upset about them?

For some reaon the end of the interview where he storms off looks familiar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hkh2TPhoZgo&feature=player_embedded#!

I’m gonna keep my eyes peeled to see how they handle this story arch. judging by previews they’re either gonna show some tired masculine crisis that triumphs (*cough* cures itself) with a heterosexual coupling, or a sitcom-lite “fairyboy” stereotype watered down for the kiddies, or on some odd chance Pixar just might make it okay for a boy to have an affinity with dolls. Potentially a vehicle for next-generation tolerance, most probably a safe stab at old hetero-humour. Im counting on Pixar to be my hero again.
·
Oh please…the genitalia-less fleshy colored doll community have been whispering for years now that Barbie is Ken’s beard. :-p
·
We all know the truth; Ken is GI Joe’s bitch once the toybox lid is closed…
·
I know it’s really stereotypical, but I know this is bad, but I found it really funny.
I’ll see how Pixar handles it in the movie. Reserving judgement.
“I’m a guy’s toy.”
·
It looks like he’s going to fall in love with Barbie.
·
Geoff’s right. Trailers do need to rope in the population of people who don’t go running to a film with queer issues if the film wants a bigger chance at the box office, still no reason why a gay ken can’t arise from a hetero-ruse!
·
I’d say vain himbo, not gay. Once again, Queerty reading WAY too much.
·
I watched this twice and failed to find it funny or even particularly stereotypically gay. So, he grooms himself and cares about what others think. I don’t think it marks him as gay, just narcissistic and perhaps a bit of a douchebag, but not necessarily gay. The language isn’t even coded as gay. But, I guess we’ll see when the movie comes out what exactly they plan to do with him.
·
“I’m a guys toy”. That about sums it up. Not to mention the totally feminine color scheme. Now if he’d just drop those shorts.
·
he’s a morning goods guy..don’t be jealous…
·
Ok Ken, Seriously ..You need to Come Out of the ToyBox! :)
·
I didn’t see anything making Ken “lean gay” in the promo. Maybe people here are projecting, being overly sensitive, or wishing.
·
I love Pixar, and I’m sure I’m going to love Toy Story 3…
…but aren’t they just rehashing the Lady Bug jokes from A Bug’s Life here?
