Ambitious gay rights hero Jon Stewart made his name attacking other pundits. And now that he’s all up in our sphincter and on the side of the “bi-furious,” he’s got a new angle: Point out how the media all but ignored the tens of thousands of people who descended on Washington for the National Equality March.
Oh, we should clarify: We mean Fox News.

I love the Daily Show. This was such a great bit. Thanks Jon for caring!

If C-SPAN hadn’t carried it no one would have seen it at all. C-SPAN deserves thanks for showing the march and speeches to those of us that couldn’t be there except in spirit and heart.
And … thanks for nothing HRC. You’ve never gotten any of my money and you never will!

But how is Fox’s behavior any different than some of the other MSM outlets who ignored or downplayed last-month’s Tea Party Rally on the Mall?

I’m glad that Jon Stewart called out Fox News for not covering the National Equality March, though it made headline news in just about every other news outlet. Though I’m not surprised by what Fox News did, it makes them look pretty bad..
As an FYI, I’ve composed a video montage for the National Equality March that you can see on their website and here:

OReilly covered NEM as follows.
“Pinheads & Patriots
Over the weekend there was a big demonstration in D.C., some gay Americans demanding equal rights. One of the protesters was singer Lady Gaga:
LADY GAGA, SINGER: They say that this country is free, and they say that this country is equal, but it is not equal if it’s sometimes. Obama, I know that you’re listening. Are you listening?
Now you can look at that two ways: Ms. Gaga is exercising her free speech, so she’s a patriot. Or she’s so over the top she’s a pinhead. You make the call.”

Another great job by Jon. I actually expected no one to cover it because it was a gay rights march. C-SPAN did air the speeches and CNN had some coverage.

While there was not as much coverage as the 9/12 protest, there actually a decent bit of coverage in the print media. The Advocate did a pretty decent job of collecting the coverage: http://www.advocate.com/News/Analysis/Covering_the_March%E2%80%99s_Coverage/
It’s largely do to the fact that the 9/12 protesters stirred controversy, and that is what sustains the 24hr media cycle. So next time we have a march we should hold up signs that say things like “Obama wants to screen and euthanasize gay teenagers to create a perfect Mulatto race” or “Obama is a self-hating homosexual. No straight man dresses that good” etc etc.
I guarantee you that will ensure that it will get the march much more coverage. Of course we would have to explain that it was all a desperate attempt to get attention, but once we are TV we can make a constructive case for equal protection and equal treatment.

@ Ted B: But how is Fox’s behavior any different than some of the other MSM outlets who ignored or downplayed last-month’s Tea Party Rally on the Mall?
Well, for a start, the National Equality March was not instigated by a TV station – the Tea Party Rally was instigated by Fox News, who repeatedly announced it, promoted it, etc. on several programs, and then inflated the numbers of protesters to ridiculous proportions on their reports of the protest.
rrr
@ TedB
The tea party protestors got loads and loads of coverage by all the networks and the press. Everyone was talking about what the protestors were doing, who they were, what their agenda is, and debating the greater meaning and political impact of the movement.
As Bobito pointed out the big Tea Party rally event that was a FOX News production wouldn’t be appropriate for the MSM to report on except in so far as indicating it is a FOX News production.
