What’s It Say When Even the KKK Is Distancing Itself From the Westboro Baptist Church?

In case there was any confusion. [via]

Hahaha…so funny that they would make a public statement regarding their position.

The KKK doesn’t like them because back in the 70’s Fred Phelps helped get rid of the segregation and Jim Crows laws in Kansas. Weird, I know, but there it is.

One reason the KKK doesn’t like Fred Phelps is that Fred Phelps called them names.

http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/intelligence-report/browse-all-issues/2001/spring/a-city-held-hostage : “Even Bob Dole, Jerry Falwell, the Ku Klux Klan, Santa Claus and the 17 sailors killed aboard the U.S.S. Cole in Yemen last October have been attacked as ‘fags’ or ‘supporters of the fag agenda.'”

The idea of Fred Phelps calling the equally homophobic KKK “fags” or “supporters of the fag agenda” is hilarious. Phelps is so into pissing people off that even groups that would naturally be his allies (assuming they can pass off his earlier work as a civil rights lawyer as a “youthful indiscretion”) can’t stand him.

It’s like the parody of an employee evaluation form ,,,

IV. Communication skills (pick the one that best applies):

      1. Talks to God
      2. Talks to others
      3. Talks to himself
      4. Argues with himself
      5. Loses arguments with himself

Andrew is right. This guy helped integrate Kansas. He sued many government institutions and businesses that discriminated against Blacks in the 1970’s & 80’s and was really a great advocate for integration. So much good then, so much evil now.

If you youtube some of his videos, you would see something of a twinkle in Phelps’ eyes when he goes off on his anti-gay rants. Is it possible that the man is giving us the performance art of a lifetime?? In addition to loving the attention, of course…

… I suspect the “good then” and “evil now” have a common cause: a need to be reviled by the outside world. Way back when, he got a lot of static from his neighbors for supporting civil rights, so it really fits the same pattern.

Given Phelps’ extreme Calvinist theology, his control over his “congregation” rests on the idea that Phelps is one of the very few predestined to be “saved”. Being reviled by the outside world may be taken as proof of Phelps’ self-proclaimed salvation because the “sinful world” reviles the “righteous” in his theology.

I was convinced that this was a fake, if only because they listed their URL as kukluxklan.bz – .bz, seriously? What, they couldn’t get kukluxklan.com? Then out of curiosity, I went to kukluxklan.com and apparently, it’s not taken. How effing pathetic are you if you basically used to run the country (and up until a few decades ago, the South) and you can’t get a .com address EVEN IF IT’S NOT TAKEN?

So anyway, who wants to buy kukluxklan.com and redirect it to a interracial gay porn site?
