Just like they did at the Grammys, some celebrities (including Anne Hathaway and some Milk folks) walking the red carpet at Sunday’s Oscars will be wearing white ribbons representing marriage equality. Fashioned by Frank Voci’s WhiteKnot.org, the white ribbons, we hope, will be asked about along with “And who are you wearing?” Voci, who’s distributed the ribbons to celebrities, publicists, and talent reps, says Sean Penn has one, but won’t decide whether to wear it until the last minute. “By showing the ribbon, they are showing their own personal support. That is my goal… It is a great platform to get it out there, to keep this in the consciousness.”

Great another “ribbon for the cause” with somay ribbons going around its wonder anybody can keep track of which color is for what cause. Just what we need more celebrities placating us by “showing” their support, get real, how many of these celebrities do you think actually give a flying rats a** about “marriage equality” it’s about the publicity that’s all.
It’s the “cause du jour”

I’m not a celebrity and I wear one and everyone who asks me what it’s for is reminded that a group of Americans are being denied their rights.

I also often wear one in Massachusetts where we are not denied our rights (at the state level at least). And while I often like to think of myself as a celebrity, I am admittedly not.

queerty, please don’t get hung up on “When White Actually Is Right”.
bourgeois, country-ass polyester rickrack notwithstanding,
Our common equal civil rights are really not about color –
can we agree on that??
forget being “right”.
you all just need to work on not being “fake”!
the rightness or wrongness you speak of so enigmatically will take care of itself,
i promise you my dears…

@sparkle – I actually thought they were referring to white after labor day? I must have been totally off base.
