An embarrassing amount of info on 1 being Efron:
Ryan Pinkston, Matt Prokop and Sterling Knight have all been mentioned as roommates at some point. However Knight and Prokop often refer to each other as roommates in the press.
Sterling is from Sunny with a Chance (he’s Chad Dylan Cooper) and was in 17 Again (Efron connection). He is 20. From his website: “Sterling is roomates with High School Musical 3: Senior Year’s Matt Prokop.”
Matt Prokop was in HM3 (Efron franchise connection) and is 19. He moved to LA from Texas at 16. Definitely struggling.
Pinkston is 21 and doesn’t share any credits with Zach. I don’t think it’s him.
Lucas Grabeel was mentioned but he’s 26 and was in all the HSM from the start. Same thing for Corbin Bleu – been there from the beginning. So I don’t think either of those work.
In this scenario, it has to be someone who joined in after HSM 1 like Prokop in 3.

I agree. I’m getting tired of actors and other celebs in the closet.
Look, it is 2010, stop being sissies and come out already. I realize full well that you’re being told by everyone in the industry (from the very top all the way down) to keep quiet about it, but to continue to hide is cowardly. You’re just making the problem worse for yourselves and for the millions of gay kids out there who are born into environments where they fear being beaten or worse for having feelings for people of the same sex. You do not have to worry about being hit, so what are you so scared about? Losing a little cash?
Real displays of courage always involves a bit of risk. Perhaps it is true that there might be a job or two that you might not get at first, but do you really think that anyone is going to care once a few big a-listers come out? (This goes back to my earlier comment about making it worse for yourselves.) Fight for what is right. Don’t agree to contracts that silence you on this matter, seek out opportunities to discuss it, and for God’s sake, quit it with the fucking beards.
In short, try showing an ounce of the guts of the people you portray on film and TV and come the fuck out.

According to an interview Matt had done, he “actually met Zac because he did a movie with [his] roommate, who played his son in Seventeen Again.” So Matt met Zac through Sterling. But it seems like Matt was introduced to Zac by his parents, according to this blind item. And Sterling came in the picture later.
In reality though, Matt and Sterling were roommates. Sterling landed a role as Zac’s son in 17 Again. Matt and Zac meet (again through Sterling). Matt gets cast in HSM3.
