My guess is Morena Baccarin. I’ve heard about the “family” rumors concerning the “V” star over the years since her time on “Firefly.” Given the vitriolic vocal homophobia that exists in the “Geek” community, this doesn’t sruprise me (check postings regarding Syfy’s “Riverworld” and on Amazon.com when “Section 51: Rogue” and “Star Trek Titan” were released for an examples on how “the gay agenda is taking over” science fiction). If it is her, I can see how she would have been convinced to remain mum particularly since the ratings on the new “V” reboot are not that good.

Whoever she is, the bitch could save lives, right this minute, by coming out and serving as a role model for gay youth. But nooooo, she’s too afraid somebody’s going to call her a dirty dyke — thus demonstrating by her silence that LGBT kids SHOULD be ashamed of who they are.
No quarter and no respect to any celebrity who sells her soul for some bread and a fleeting gig — and no sympathy for the crocodile tears she’ll display on “Entertainment Tonight” (is that show still on?) after her career is over and it’s “safe” to come out.

The fandoms of Doctor Who, Star Trek, and Comic Books which are the ones I follow have been accepting and loving to LGBT people and I hear of no problems from other fandoms. I mean even Comic-Con international which takes place in San Diego and its related conventions (Wonder-Con in San Francisco and APE which is also in San Francisco) have taken moves to ensure a welcoming environment, from making LGBT panels to asking people who wear homophobic shirts to change shirts or get out. Fuck they don’t even let Jack Chick in and they ask people who show up passing out his works to stop or leave. And they do this in San Diego which is Conservative Central in my opinion. But still geeks are my second family, they always accepted me for who I am and they accept LGBT people and you can see it in the works of the creators of Sci-Fi and Comic Books.
This year, Westboro Baptist Church came to protest Comic-Con, and the counter protest of the attendees was absolutely awesome. Not only did attendees show up with signs but the vendors of Comic-Con helped provide supplies to make more signs. I think in whole Geeks are LGBT friendly because we can relate on the idea of being rejected from the mainstream, and those who are homphobic are in the minority.

@Carsen Tyler: Carsen: You are absolutely right. The overwhelming majority of geeks are welcoming and accepting of LGBT’s. So, I sincerely apologize for not being clear enough. My previous comment has led you (and others) to think I was referring to entire Sci-fi/Geek community of which I am also a proud member. That was wrong of me.
However, it is a very small and vocal minority that seems to get the bullhorn. And it is this minority that mainstream television and movie producers appear to listen to when making production decisions concerning the LGBT’s in science fiction shows (i.e. Rick Berman from Star Trek). That is why I think this bind item refers to Morena Baccarin from “V.”

OK, so we know the photo is of Kate Walsh, but is she gay? Rumors have been around since 2006 on messageboards all over. The most convincing evidence is that she got “married” to a PRODUCER when her very own TV series hit the airwaves, and she IS the star of the show (Private Practice). In 2008 her husband said bye-bye and the divorce was finalized early this year.
