Which Was Worse: Nicki Minaj’s Grammys “Blasphemy” Or M.I.A.’s Super Bowl Flip-Off?

In case you missed it, Nicki Minaj’s long-winded performance Sunday at the Grammys was an Exorcist-themed sh*t show. The song itself, “Roman’s Holiday,” probably won’t be a hit, but Nicki’s main goal was to provoke and instigate. Which she did very well.

She even got the predictably out-of-touch Catholic League to wonder, “Is Nicki Minaj Possessed?”Now, Jebus knows we’re no fans of the Catholic Church but Nicki’s attempt to use Catholic imagery to be edgy has been done before, and better, by her Super Bowl co-star Madonna. Ms. Minaj should’ve stuck to what she does best: giving us buttloads of freaky-deeky sex appeal.

But do its transgressions surpass M.I.A.’s Super Bowl flip-off to America (below)? That move was criticized by both Nicki, who said  she was “disappointed,” and Madge, who called the move childish and “irrelevant.”

Sp, which stunt was the dumber publicity ploy? Give us your opinion (and not the finger, please) in the comments!

Nicki was fab! Until the Grammy’s whilst I’d heard of her, I’d never heard her.
I have to say I liked her performance and she can sing and she can rhyme.

The one fingered salute is mostly given by teenaged, entitled brats. When given by anyone over 21, it’s just embarrassing. Particularly so when MIA clearly didn’t have the courage of her convictions and go for it. Most people needed the slow motion replay to be sure she had done it in the first place. Missing in Action indeed.

      Next!

Katy Perry’s AutoTuned/mimed performance was easily the worst.

WOW… tough question… I, and all those at the party, missed MIA’s finger. Someone caught it and then it viral… It was stupid and sadly took the focus off of the rest of the halftime show… Madonna did a great job.

When I saw Nicki on Ellen a few weeks ago… with the cute 5 yo’s I fell in love with her. she was sooo good with those girls. Then she showed up at the GA’s as red ridding hood I laughed, did not recognize he… then her performance (or lack of) had me change the channel… It made no sense… and we could not understand a word that she said

So My vote goes to Nicki

Can I just say that Nicki’s performance was weird? I don’t know, I felt that both of their performances would somehow have made sense had it been the MTV VMAs.

What’s worse is Queerty’s incredibly annoying “recommendations” window that opens up on the lower right-side of the page. Seriously, Queerty. Junk this feature.

      Nicki’s was worse..

MIA’s only went for 10 secs whereas Ms Minaj’s went on and on and on for what seemed like hours.. Painful!!!

Gotta understand the purpose behind Nicki’s performance. “Roman” is her alter ego, a gay man. Nicki hates the church, particularly their stance on gay people. This was a protest. Called “The exorcism of Roman” it is a blatant protest. Listen to the lyrics.

The vid has been removed from youtube due to copyright claims, but I believe the dailymotion one on just jared works.

She should have consulted her gay man alter ego to give her some tips on style, performance and entertainment value. It was a disaster–protest or not. She only drew begative attention to herself, it made the church look pretty good in comparison. M.I.A. Who cares? It got her more attention than she deserves.

I didn’t watch the show as it had Madonna and she is horrible. I have heard niki Minaj sing/rap and she is the worst. She ruins every song she is on that could be good. Without seeing the halftime show I can bet Nikki Minaj was worst.

Although I really didn’t “get” Nicki Minaj’s performance, I give props to anyone who can offend a pedophile cult headed by a former Nazi.

Great, yet another manufactured pop star jumping on the “gay rights” band wagon so she can gain access to Fashion Week and red carpet events. Minaj is a Lil Wayne protege so that shows you where her taste factor comes from. Hip Hop died years ago when it’s stars aspired to be 1% members with their “bling” and the rest of their stupid crap. At least Lady Xerox didn’t perform. And she now seems EXCLUDED from the recording industry with her loses at the Grammy’s thanks to her lying and posturing over Cloned This Way. All pop stars are manufactured fakes marketed for children or adults who are lemmings with no critical thinking or education.

@velocifero: what does critical thinking and education have to do with writing songs, almost all of recording artists today have never went to college, and I hate when people take jabs at those who stick up for our rights, what you rather them being against us, plus Gaga has time over time showed her loyalty to us, when she backed out of the target deal because they wouldn’t stop pandering to anti-gay politicians.

People are making such a big deal out of M.I.A. flipping off the camera while girls are gyrating in the background with their legs spread open and their vaginas in the air? Seriously? Open your eyes and don’t let the media distract you. If you’re honestly offended by her flipping off the camera and not by the sexual dancing in the background, then you’ve got some serious re-evaluating of your fragile moral and ethics, children.

Madonna is also hypocritical idiot for disapproving of M.I.A.’s inappropriate behavior when her career was founded on much more sexual scandalousness. America is as fucked up with their standards on what’s appropriate and what’s not as they’ve always been.

the superbowl performance was all lip sycned except for cee lo greens part
so that in itself is bad
but nicki is just trying to be controversial and shes not very good at it
oh and she also enlisted the help of lady gagas former choreographer laurieann gibson so it obvious shes trying to be controversial
MIA isn’t even relevant anymore she had like five seconds on the madonna song – which is probably one of madonnas weakest songs to date
